Ah, loved this. Generative AI overuses certain words like "delve" & you can use this to guess at how often ChatGPT was used in e.g pubmed abstracts. It's a thing in policy too! Looked at English language policy docs from @overtonio and occurrences have pretty much doubled
MYSTERY SOLVED! Why does ChatGPT use the word "delve" so much? We've seen a 10x increase in the proportion of medical studies using the word "delve" from 2022 to 2024. But why? @alexhern at The Guardian might've just solved it. Thread below, complete with the trail of clues:

Here's the map after grouping into top level topics. Bear in mind this is a *heavily biased, incomplete* snapshot of what's being explicitly asked about at this point in time, not a general inventory of everything all governments need. Still, some research Qs come to mind 3/

We've just launched a new db called Engage that collects calls for evidence, consultations, expert panels etc. from a bunch of countries in one place. There's more below, but I want to post here about the underlying data and why it's interesting for research and planning 1/
Introducing Overton Engage! We’re excited to announce the launch of a new tool to help universities connect with decision-makers, to improve public policy. Get active about policy engagement - learn more here👇 bit.ly/3yU6RVM

Generally researchers seem keen on engaging on policy issues (in an abstract *somebody* should do it kind of way). Eg Pew survey of AAAS members pewresearch.org/wp-content/u… but sometimes hard to see upsides as an individual beyond warm fuzzy feelings

Was checking up on a pest control company & stumbled across this chap on Trustpilot who writes reviews in verse... am impressed though the Yodel one is suspiciously positive

On a related note yesterday I got another ORCID notification saying @CrossrefOrg has picked up a paper with my ORCID. It's not my paper, the author has put in the wrong ORCID. Now all my papers belong to him in OpenAlex 😅
