In DM vandaag: ⤵️

Dear Americans, Look at the images coming out of France these days. Burning streets, cars and buildings, blockades, a country where everyone is fed up and nobody can take it anymore. They look like a civil war. What you are seeing is not a crisis. It is a result. The result of at least forty-five years of bad decisions – and of lying about them. Yes, immigration plays a big part. But immigration can be managed in many ways. France chose socialism. Socialism and the lie: the French have been lying to themselves for forty-five years. Now they are paying. You cannot lie to reality. You always pay in the end. Here is the mechanism – watch it carefully, because it is on your ballot. In the 1970s, France worked. It was run by engineers and builders – Concorde, the TGV, the nuclear plants. A country where even an immigrant’s son could find his place and rise. Then power changed hands. The builders lost it to the bureaucrats of an oversized state. Those people produce nothing. They distribute, they regulate, they comment. In such a system you don’t rise by building. You rise by talking, positioning yourself, getting your share. Those who build become suspects. Those who distribute become the masters. And in socialism, nobody really rises. When all that’s left is sharing a cake that no longer grows, everyone resents everyone – often rightly. A country that no longer creates wealth integrates no one. It only distributes resentment. And all this is before the debt crisis, which is still ahead of France and will make everything ten times harder. America is still run, more than anywhere on earth, by builders. That is why you have rockets that land themselves and cars that fly. But the distributors are knocking: free this, guaranteed that, a new office to manage it, a new tax to fund it. It starts with kindness. It ends with the cake shrinking and the resentment growing. So before you vote, ask one question about every candidate: does he build – or distribute? Keep power with the builders. Let those who build decide. And let those who only talk be quiet. I’m Polish. We know how bad things can get. And we know how you get out – not in a day. First, stop lying. Then have the courage to tell the truth. Then start building – and never stop, and never again hand power to those who build nothing. Trust me: it is much easier never to go down that road.

Trump has never, not even once, called out Vladimir Putin to stop killing Ukrainians. Or to hold fair elections IN RUSSIA. The President of the United States is on the side of Putin, which means on the side of Evil, and he needs to be removed from office ASAP.

Politici, een ras apart!
Bally Bagayako, the far-left mayor of Saint-Denis, has a Sudanese flag hanging on his wall. French Internet users are suggesting he put the flag up accidentally because he confused it with the Palestinian flag which is very similar. 🇸🇩🇵🇸

1/ Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian data centres are having a severe impact due to the highly centralised nature of Russia's digital economy, in contrast to Ukraine's decentralised approach. Fears are growing that it could cause a banking crisis. ⬇️ xitter.cf/JayinKyiv/status/21093…

It is time for the EU to make an oil deal with Iran.

Context: 300k tonnes of diesel = 93 million gallons. US uses 160 to 170 million gallons per day - so 300k tonnes would last 13-14 hours. Total order of 1.8 million tonnes = ~82 hours of US use = ~3 days 10 hours. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm1d…

BREAKING: US President Trump says he has agreed with Vladimir Putin that Russia would export “to the American and Global Marketplace” diesel. The quantities are, however quite small to make a meaningful impact. Trump says Russia will export immediately ~300,000 tonnes (~2.2 million barrels or ~100,000 b/d for the rest of the month); plus ~500,000 tonnes in November (~3.7 million barrels, ~125,000 b/d for the month). The flows would increase later, Trump said. Left unsaid: the White House will have to lift once again sanctions on Russian refined products (if not all oil).

Dit ⤵️!
De Dam, Amsterdam. 7 oktober. Netanyahu is verkozen dus iedereen is schuldig.

Updates on the suspected case of pneumonic plague in Siberia. 1. We still have no confirmation that this young researcher died of plague. 2. Again, the Russian government surely knows the cause, and likely has a genomic sequence. They are unlikely to share it. 3. There is speculation that such reticence, coupled with their fire-alarm response, is evidence of something sinister happening (bioweapon gone bad, etc.). At this point, that's a hypothesis but not much more. 4. The US sent a formal request for information to Russia (via a démarche). The request reminded Russia of its obligation to share information under international law. 5. Russia does not care about such obligations. 6. Pres. Trump stated that he and Putin have a call scheduled "very soon" to discuss the situation. 7. Will @realDonaldTrump stand up to Putin and demand transparency? History suggests he will not (Helsinki summit, NATO, Crimea, Ukraine, etc.). 8. Similarly, @who has also requested more information, citing Russia's obligations under the IHRs. 9. See #5. 10. WHO is also trying to get clarity around reports of a second possible case of pneumonia. Those reports are unconfirmed.
