As always, I thank you for the shout-out. Here is the link to the meetup founded by @MsMiaMendez and led by me: meetup.com/mentalhealthandth…
There are so many things that might have had an impact on my taper. I recommend going slowly and doing a hyperbolic taper. Gut health is equally as important when tapering off of psychiatric drugs. Most drugs are absorbed in the gut so even having diarrhea can complicate a taper by creating inconsistent dosages. Inconsistent dosing can sometimes look like an illness returning but symptoms can also be caused by medication. I’ve monitored my ketones for 2 1/2 years and ketones help me function again and also help stabilize me during my taper. When I’m in deep enough ketosis I don’t experience mental health symptoms of my schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, or agoraphobia. Many people have a similar experience. I just started doing a Free X Spaces meet up and am in the process of setting a date for my next one. Support through a taper is very important. For me it involves my psychiatrist, family doctor, and metabolic psychiatry dietitian. There are other free support groups besides mine but I love connecting with people like me so I hope you’ll consider attending mine. Here are some other places to get free support: @BFRS501c3 @KetoCounselor @MsMiaMendez @StevenTrunce These were the people I actually used on my own journey: @GeorgiaEdeMD, @KetoPotterRDN, @LkronR How long have you taken psychiatric drugs for? Have you encountered any problems?

Two communities. One shared mission. This Wednesday, we’re bringing our keto mental health communities together for something just as important as nutrition: connection. No presentation. Just real people, real conversations, and shared experiences. Community and connection are metabolic therapies too. 🔥

📣 Participant recruitment for a ketogenic diet and bipolar disorder study at the University of Pittsburgh. Mary Phillips, MD, and her team at the University of Pittsburgh are recruiting adults with Bipolar I or Bipolar II for a study examining how a ketogenic diet may influence brain structure and function. pittplusme.org/studyarms/pub… Participants may be eligible if they are 18 to 40 years old, have a diagnosis of Bipolar I or Bipolar II, have a smartphone and are willing to complete daily finger prick testing. The would also need to be able to attend in person study visits at UPMC in #Pittsburgh. Compensation is available. This is a very cool study because the outcomes will help move the field of metabolic psychiatry beyond questions about whether ketogenic metabolic therapy may help some people with psychiatric illness toward a better understanding of what may be changing in the brain when it does. I If you know someone with Bipolar I or Bipolar II who is between 18 and 40 and within traveling distance of Pittsburgh, please share this with them. And even if nobody immediately comes to mind, sharing this post can help the research team reach the people they need. Participant recruitment remains one of the biggest practical barriers to getting this research done. But with your help sharing within your private and professional networks? Maybe no so much! #MetabolicPsychiatry #BipolarDisorder #KMT #ClinicalResearch #ResearchParticipation

Most people hear the word “metabolism” and think it means how quickly someone burns calories. But metabolism is much bigger than weight loss. It is the entire system your body uses to convert food and stored fuel into energy, build and repair tissue, and carry out every process required to keep you functioning. Before we can understand ketones, ketosis, or the potential role of metabolic therapies in mental health, we need to understand what metabolism actually is. In Episode 2 of The Ketone Quest, I break metabolism down into clear, practical language and establish the foundation we will build on throughout the rest of the series. Watch the short below, then watch the full episode on YouTube: youtu.be/xvWAwyKzse4 I hope this series can support the broader work being done to improve public understanding of metabolism and mental health. @Metabolic_Mind @GeorgiaEdeMD @ChrisPalmerMD #TheKetoneQuest #MetabolicHealth #MetabolicMentalHealth

We need just $1,035.97 more in donations before midnight tonight (July 31, 2026) to unlock the full $25,000 @BaszuckiGroup match and reach our $50,000 goal. We don't play small, and clearly neither do you! We are excited to see full match benefit unfold on this final day. If you have not yet donated now would be the time. If you have donated thank you. And if you want to donate again to @BFRS501c3 to unlock the full power of this generous matching grant, you can do so here: every.org/brain-fog-recovery… The Every org platform is amazing. It can process Crypto, DAF, PayPal, Venmo, Stocks, EFT, Google Pay and even gift cards. So many convenient ways for us to close this gap and ensure funding for our audacious goal of assisting 200 main participants over the next 12 months so they too can explore the hope and promise of ketogenic metabolic therapy for psychiatric recovery.

If you’re using a ketogenic diet for mental health, what is the “right” ketone level? That question launched my new educational YouTube series, called The Ketone Quest. Episode 1 introduces the series and explains why ketone numbers should not be treated as a universal target. Full episode: youtu.be/L3CGM7g6QH8 I hope The Ketone Quest can complement the broader metabolic mental health education being advanced by @Metabolic_Mind and leaders such as @GeorgiaEdeMD. #KetoneQuest #MetabolicMentalHealth

Thanks for the mention, Harmony. For anyone interested, here is our peer support group on Meetup: meetup.com/mentalhealthandth…
I was agoraphobic and afraid to leave my house as well. It’s a known side effect of the antipsychotic I was prescribed. I’ll be doing another free X spaces meet up soon. I would love it if you attended. It’s a great opportunity to connect, get support, learn, or ask questions about metabolic therapies for mental health. As far as other support goes @KetoCounselor has a non profit program and @MsMiaMendez @StevenTrunce & @matthewbaszucki all offer coaching and support groups as well.
