When your all day event you are supporting starts your day off with a delicious donut. HELLO DIE-ABETUS! Lol
I NEED TO LEARN TO READ FINE PRINT!
I was offered to enjoy a meal provided by catering today at the event I was helping. I read the main label like "Oh this is a sandwich I enjoy." (It was Roast Beef) I get the container open. Take a bite... my mouth is instantly on fire. I then look at what was included... of course it mentioned having peppers in it.
Gotta love it when the days run together. You think an event starts at 7 so you make it on site at 6... only to realized you confused an event for Monday. And today's event starts at 8.
It cetainly feels weird still. To have a holiday weekend off. So much so that I don't even remember the holidays that are for each month.
Heck, it wasn't until Thursday I realized this weekend is Columbus Day weekend. For which my hometown has a festival going on. Going to head there today.
It gives me comical amusement when a simple troubleshooting step was never tried for over a year on a unit.
I have been in my job for 3 months. We have had a device give us problems at least since I started working.
Boss finally said "we should finally get this looked at."
I call up the company that is the one in charge of the device.
Tech: "let me take a look at what you guys have... looks like 5 devices... one looks like it's been offline for over a year."
Me: "well that's certainly not good. Is there anything you need from the device? I am not familiar with your equipment is there a way to restart the unit."
Tech: "i should be fine for now. You just need to remove it from the wall plate, unplug and reseat the PoE ethernet cable. It should ask for a passcode to reauthenticate. When it does, you should see it power cycle and it should go green"
(device has lights on the outer edge, it was amber, and the reason for my call)
Me: "Understood"
Tech: "if it still is amber after the paascode or if no pascode comes up, give us a call back and we can proceed from there."
I go to the unit, do the troubleshooting steps as prescribed. The device reauthenticated, the only case was the light went red (still a good thing) as it displayed a meeting going on.

When you get the autonomy response from your boss about what to do about some old equipment.
"You take care of it"
Inner Me:
With my current job, I feel a breath of fresh air for having a huge amount of autonomy at my finger tips. Sure, I have my assigned tasks, but the rest of the work day I can find stuff to do (and there is plenty with some secondary tasks I have)
Currently, I am going through a storage closet that has equipment between 10 to 30 years old (I had found an overhead projector that made me feel like I was going back in time to the 90s), and sorting into "what can still be used", to "electronic waste". My boss is all for this, especially as I help clear the storage room as one of our conference rooms will have some equipment removed and will need a temporary home for one of our podiums.
In honor of this joke I made, I made some fanart of @freyjarabbit as a member of Team Rocket. Freyja, what did Giovanni promise you? Lol
I possibly did one of the funniest things this morning to troubleshoot an issue.
User was mentioning that there sounded like radio cross talk over the speakers during a meeting. When i had arrive the issue was not present. I stuck around after their meeting to get more info from the user. Apparently the issue happens if the room they occupy and a neighboring room are having separate meetings during the same time blocks.
To try and replicate the issue, i go to the neighboring room and test a Zoom call while the user remains in the original room. Good thing with zoom's test call feature, you can record audio repeatedly for playback until you select "ok" to end it.
So what I did was pulled up a YT short of Filian and Camila. With Camila crashing out. Had that play in the loop. I go over to the original room and i can vaguely hear the crashout over the speakers in that room. Now to wait on some vendor repairs between the rooms
When you turned your friend @niphleim into a @madmanfenrir fan and she sends you one of his shorts in a group text. Now to get her to make some of the Gamer Supp Smoothies... gotta get her a trusty entrenching tool and a blender to sacrifice.
Not gonna like. My eyes felt like I witnessed some Heresy yesterday. Almost thought i was going to be an accessory to Heresy.
I went to my folks yesterday to help them reorganize their house a little. During said reorg, i noticed plenty of Christmas stuff scattered about. I exclaimed "IT'S NOT EVEN HALLOWEEN YET, WHY DO I SEE CHRISTMAS?... Wait, don't tell me you need me to help set up?"
When your one mistake today was loading up on lunch today during overtime with Cabo Verdean food provided by catering.
I was fighting a food coma for these 4.5 hours.... I won.
Happy International Rabbit Day to @freyjarabbit and @TroubleBun
To those who didn't know, yesterday was my birthday. I am not one to really "advertise" it. I tend to enjoy a rather quiet day. Heck, I didn't even take the day off at work. I took care of tickets and helped get several rooms back up to function.
If you missed it, please do not fret, I am happy to always accept them.
