Apparently the Optimum Zeromouse Sold out in under 20 minutes. In what world is $300 possible even close to reasonable?
The Xbab Mouse is $180
Gwolves mice are $135-$160
There are some more niche mods you can find as well for $50 or less
I genuinely don't understand how this could be possibly justifiable. The people who bought this are also part of the problem. Supporting a launch like this is just going to allow companies to continue raising prices with no justifiable reasons or upgrades. This is genuinely the worst priced peripheral we've seen even worse then the $360 wallhack board honestly.
I don't understand the argument that comes up every few months about there not being enough mouse innovation.
Innovation takes time and the further you get the longer it takes.
I've been in this community a little over 3 years and the market has changed and innovatived so much since then.
3 years ago there were very few sub 55g mice and all the mice under $99 were 57g+ until the VXE series came in December 2023.
Some Innovations we've gotten in the last 3 years. (Some of these may have already existed in one random china mouse)
- sub 20g mice
- Magnetic switches
- battery swap
- hotswap clicks
- a fully modular mouse and other modular mice
- carbon fiber mice
We've also seen massive improvements in QC
- Sticky Clicks are almost non existent
- Side flex has disappeared
- pre travel is seen less often
Also some innovations aren't necessarily worth doing. Which is a big reason why some mice aren't 30g and companies would rather make a well built 45g mouse.
Lots of people that say they want more innovation also never actually say what they want. Innovation is expensive and should companies spend all their money on guess work?
Is the market really slow or are some people just feeling that way because they try to many of the same mice and it makes them fail to recognize that the market is still moving.
At the end of the day if I look back just a couple years I see massive improvements and the market and lots of innovation from companies like orbital, Gwolves and Now Logitech and even finalmeme.
