It’s worrying to read the Government is considering an increase in Capital Gains Tax. Britain needs people willing to take risks, build businesses and invest their capital here. Incentives matter! Increasing CGT will mean fewer jobs. inews.co.uk/news/politics/ca…

One of the UK's highest taxpayers is leaving the UK. That's a huge hole for the Treasury to fill. Labour doesn't understand that it's business and entrepreneurs that pay for our public services.

So now there’s proof Peter Mandelson emailed Epstein with an early heads up of: 1) Gordon Brown’s resignation 2) the €500 billion bailout to save the Euro in 2010. Both before the public knew. This is open and shut stuff. Mandelson is going to jail.

George Abaraonye, the incoming Oxford Union President, is alleged to have openly celebrated Charlie Kirk’s shooting in a WhatsApp group chat. Frankly shocking, especially given he debated Kirk at the Union earlier this year. A vile and utterly sickening display.

We paid for Angela Rayner’s education. We paid her wages when she worked for the local council. We paid her wages when she became an MP. We even paid the settlement that enabled her to buy a house. Tax payers have funded every aspect of her entire life.

Emanuele Pugliese @emanupgl finds that with the big tech companies controlling the big AI research budgets, we are poorly placed to ensure Artificial Intelligence is developed in a way which serves humanity as a whole. 'The rise of AI-driven research could usher in a golden age of scientific breakthroughs, or a deeply divided future where many labs (in particular public labs, especially in the global south) lack the advanced AI tools to carry out cutting-edge research. Names like Google, Microsoft, Facebook, OpenAI and Tesla are now at the forefront of basic research – a major departure from the days when public and academic institutions led the charge. 'This new reality raises pressing questions. Can we fully trust AI developed by private companies to shape scientific research? 'It also raises questions about how we address the risks of concentrated power, threats to open science (making research freely accessible), and the uneven distribution of scientific rewards between countries and communities. 'If we are to celebrate the first AI to win a Nobel prize for its own discovery, we must ensure the conditions are in place not to see it as the triumph of some humans over others, but as a victory for humanity as a whole.'
