Since no one can come to us to see what we are up to, we have put together the below video highlighting some of our @theGRDC experiments we have going on.

Blackleg in South West Vic is now severe on leaves and first flowers. If your crop has severe leaf lesions and is commencing flowering it may be at risk of Upper Canopy Blackleg yield loss. Later flowering crops will have much lower risk.
Blackleg in the Wimmera is developing on leaves, but it is too late to cause severe crown canker. The risk of Upper Canopy at the moment is lower in the Wimmera due to later flowering.
First blackleg flower infection that I've seen this season. If your crop is flowering early and has infection, consider fungicide at 30% bloom.
On Friday 10th July @ 2pm EST we will be presenting a webinar on the current season, potential use of fungicides and current status of fungicide resistance in Australia. Click on the link to register.

An example of severe blackleg infection on untreated MS cultivar at Lake Bolac. More resistant cultivars holding up well.
Blackleg, white leaf spot and downy mildew all starting to appear in the Western District @theGRDC disease monitoring sites.

We will be repeating the fungicide resistance screens in 2020. This free service allows you to test your fungal population for resistance to all current fungicides used to control blackleg. Please go to marcroftgrainspathology.com/… to download the protocol/submission form.
Steve will be at the GRDC updates at Wagga Wagga. Come here about the latest blackleg control strategies at 2pm Wednesday 19th Feb.
Canola harvest is well underway. If anyone left untreated strips after applying fungicides at 30% bloom for controlling upper canopy infection, we would love to know what yield returns the fungicides gave.

The 2019 fungicide resistance results are in for the 208 stubble samples screened. Similar findings to 2018 with resistance detected only for the DMI fungicides. Individual results will be sent this week to those who submitted samples.
The 2019 spring blackleg management guide is now available at grdc.com.au/GRDC-FS-Blackleg… Check it out for all variety information regarding blackleg.
A quick update on the progression of blackleg upper canopy infection. The symptoms we are seeing at Lake Bolac suggest our recommendations were on point and the season is progressing as expected.
Saw same symptoms at Lake Bolac yesterday. We will have yield data from +/- fungicide split plots.
Upper canopy blackleg infection in early sown stingray canola @ Curyo in southern mallee. Aviator Xpro applications in the district will be interesting at harvest on yield response @Steve_Marcroft @drum_craig @Seamus_McKinley
