The Family Diary. As a little girl, my mother had taken me shopping at a local mom and pop grocery store. I only remember it, because I went back for years after this specific story I am about to share. The grocery store was small with a gravel parking lot. It had been someone’s home and somewhat redesigned as a small place to grab necessities- like milk, bread, some fruits and vegetables, you know, the usual items. I was approximately 3 years old and at the time the youngest of my parents brood. I held mother’s soft hand and a bell on the door chimed as we entered the store. It chimed often at the end of the day, busy with last minute shoppers- tired mothers. An elderly woman was behind an old cash register and smiled pleasantly- my mother went about the task of getting a basket and filling it with last minute evening groceries. Somehow, my curiosity took me outside and I had toddled my way behind a big white delivery truck- as it maneuvered to back up in the small parking space- my mother simultaneously dropped her basket and opened a window above the fruit. She climbed out of the window and grabbed me just in enough time to save my life. She and the shop keeper said I was missed being run over by inches. Mom held me tight. That night my father asked her “how did you know Shannon was behind the truck?” She said to daddy, “the Holy Spirit whispered in my ear- go through the window and get your daughter.” To this day I know that my Redeemer Lives. He is Jesus Christ, God the Father and The Holy Spirit. I was holding my mothers hand last week, ever so thankful for her and both of my parent’s belief in the Savior. Thank goodness she listened to that still small unwavering voice. My prayer for anyone reading this is you get to know God. That you have a comfortable relationship with Him. Be well. Shannon
