This is one hell of a quote from UCLA HC Bob Chesney on practice
“The leading cause of success is well managed failure”
Chesney understands that the old saying “perfect practice makes perfect” is 100% false, and that a certain amount of failing in practice is what makes you
Improve. If you don’t fail, you don’t have to problem solve, and Football is a game of problem solving
So many coaches don’t fully grasp this concept and I am now even more impressed with Chesney than I already was. UCLA got an absolute stud

My eyes were wet from start to finish. I thought of being little in a big world & watching my son's first tries at this mad game. ESPN's Open to the NHL season is beautiful. I didn't expect to cry today-this is stunning. There's nothing like this sport. We at ESPN love the sport as you do. ❤️ Enjoy.

“I used to think it was cool to get away with not sleeping.
That’s the dumbest sh*t I’ve ever heard.
When your job is to deal with people, you need to establish health habits to sustain [yourself] when there’s a lot of external stressors.”

LA Rams HC Sean McVay - Be An Elevator
"We want to try and be elevators, we want to try and help people be able to reach their highest potential."
"What that means is that you elevate every person/situation that you're a part of. That's what great leaders do."
"I know when I reflect back on the good times, it's been because there is a purpose about serving others."
"When I have looked back and said man I should have been better, it's usually when it's become a little bit more about me than I ever wanted it to. Your own selfish ambitions."

Love his perspective-so challenging to pull yourself out of your daily grind to recognize this and remember it. Love that that he shared it-Great reminder for us all!
Take two minutes and listen to these words from Marcus Freeman whether you’re a Notre Dame fan or not. This is what old school sports used to mean
Joe DiMaggio said something very similar
This is the way my dad raised me
