It's now two weeks since I suggested to the Director of Fine Memorials that he consider paying compensation to my two grandchildren after his company removed the slab from my Sons grave just 3 days before the children went to lay flowers on Fathers Day. They were met with a patch of bare earth due to an employee of the company taking the slab to use on another grave just 6 feet away. I've also suggested the company make a donation to a mental health charity and refund the family who paid Fine Memorials to install a memorial stone on their family members grave, only to discover it was installed on the slab taken from my Sons grave. As an aside, the other family were only aware their stone had been cemented to someone elses slab because I told them. I don't think Fine Memorials were ever going to tell them. Anyway, Mr Hale at Fine Memorials has refused to engage with me on these points. He's just reiterated that he's prepared to pay for a memorial stone for my Sons grave (quote) "If the price is right". I've told him I don't want my Sons grave tainted with any further involvement by Fine Memorials after their unethical, unsolicited and totally unacceptable plundering of his grave on June 18th. We were always going to pay for our own memorial stone and nothing has changed. What has changed however is my attitude to leaving reviews. I never had any intention of doing this but things change. Afterall, I've unavoidably had dealings with Fine Memorials over the past month so I'm surely now qualified to leave a review. I didn't ask them to touch my Sons grave. I didn't ask them to drive away from the cemetery leaving the grave uncovered. I didn't even know the company existed before they demonstrated the "respect", "dignity" and "compassion" they so fondly mention on their various web entries. Those words are of course absolutely meaningless in the context of this incident. They believed they could plunder a grave for spare parts. They even admitted they'd done it before. It's review time.
