Politicians aren’t your friends. Most of them certainly don’t care about you or your family. Your relationship with them should be purely transactional. Use them when you can, then discard them as soon as they stop being useful or cause harm.

Really not sure we need to extensively litigate whether it's worse to loot and torch businesses across the country or to storm the capitol.

BREAKING: A full-scale manhunt is underway for members of the mob that attacked the Capitol. On top of the damage done inside, sources tell CBS News that a laptop possibly containing sensitive national security information was stolen. @NorahODonnell reports from the Capitol

It’s easy to feel jaded after what the world saw in Washington DC yesterday, but the United States is still a country with strong institutions and a long democratic tradition. Flawed? Definitely.

I personally think that the 25th Amendment, in this case, is a weak and dubious method of side-stepping Congress' clear responsibility to grapple with what, if anything at all, would constitute an impeachable offense.

As someone who has covered many of the riots last year, I can say this narrative is simply false. Tear gas, pepper balls, pepper spray, and flashbangs were all used yesterday, just as they were used on rioters in 2020.
.@KamalaHarris: "We witnessed two systems of justice when we saw one that let extremists storm the United States Capitol, and another that released tear gas on peaceful protesters last summer...We know this is unacceptable. We know we should be better than this."

NEWS: Republican Voters Against Trump (rvat.org) calls for the immediate removal of President Trump from office. As VP Pence and members of the Cabinet consider invoking the 25th Amendment, RVAT will be releasing videos from citizens demanding Trump's removal now.

This is sort of thing you say when you get all of your facts and opinions from media that only tell you what you want to hear.

Sigh. Biden and Harris need to do better. Less than 24 hours and right back to political pandering. How about focusing on all political violence is unacceptable? Prosecute those who participated in yesterday's disgraceful riot and then do the same in Portland and Seattle.

“93 percent peaceful” is important context. It’s not an excuse for the 7% that wasn’t peaceful. gfile.thedispatch.com/p/a-mo…

Bravo to this honesty. Since May I have gotten almost an email a day from a professor who fears speaking out against the modern distortion of progressivism would get them fired. quillette.com/2020/07/08/a-d…

KUSI has asked county officials multiple times to interview a contact tracer on air to ask these things in more detail. Our requests are always denied. @KUSINews

That’s why you’re part of the problem. You should feel intense gratitude for exactly that, because for 100,000s of years no one gave a damn about your rights. And when you stop feeling gratitude for them, they get taken away.
Replying to @JonahDispatch
I don’t feel like I owe anybody an overwhelming debt of gratitude just for recognizing my natural rights.

Most protesters did not engage in rioting or looting. Yet there is an increasingly common rationalization about the Boston Tea Party. These rioters have as much in common with the Boston Tea Party as the Antifa movement has with the Anti-Federalists.thehill.com/opinion/white-ho…

And people are making fools of themselves dunking on this. “The founders are evil, racist, blah blah blah. But we love the Bill of Rights and the Constitutional norms they codified in law! But Goldberg is an idiot for thinking they deserve any credit for it.” Pathetic.
People are dunking on this and I would like to add: the Revolution was about property, taxation, and complicated stuff about the crown. Most of these personal liberties fell under English protection already for White males

So they’re building a wall?
Rioters are grabbing whatever fencing they can find around downtown Portland to build their own autonomous zone. #antifa xitter.cf/BlairStenvick/status/1…
