I have worked with Stanley Richards for years. He is an inspiring human being. Vast experience in gov’t and the non-profit sector. And now making history as the first formerly incarcerated person to lead the NYC Dept of Corrections. I am truly excited about this appointment.
.@NYCMayor about to name Stanley Richards of the Fortune Society as the new head of @CorrectionNYC. He will be the first formerly incarcerated person to ever lead the department specne.ws/R5akdt

.@PeterMoskos @NYPDnews is traditional law enforcement, while ICE has been turned into a political paramilitary force with a very different mandate.
In all the peaceful and violent anti-police protests of 2020, there were literally zero people killed by law enforcement. Zero. The first death was on Jan 6 2021 when an unarmed white woman was shot and killed by a federal officer when she was storming the Capitol.

A statement from the family of Alex Pretti, obtained by CNN: "We are heartbroken but also very angry. Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed. Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you."

Reading both Gods of New York by ⁦@jonathanmahler⁩ & City for Sale by Wayne Barrett and Jack Newfield. It can be said that Ed Koch left a complicated legacy but his service in WW2 shouldn’t be lost to history-KOCH, HUNGRY SOLDIER; by Edward A. Baker nytimes.com/1981/10/03/opini…

My thoughts are with the students and faculty at Brown, where I attended 25 years ago. It’s a horror to imagine what they are going through right now and I hope for the safety and healing.

Somehow my entire @X feed just turned into anti @ZohranKMamdani posts. Like one after another by people I don’t even follow.

We have a sick and rotten cancer in our country right now and it’s metastasizing. When are we going to all, Rs and D’s, stand up together to say enough?
ICE violently detains mother driving daughter to school—for not having social security number memorized. "Agent became flustered when she couldn't repeat the number... then just lunged at her," said daughter. She showed agents work permit, social security card, drivers license, and car registration—they arrested her anyway. "I want this video out there because I want my mother home," explained her 16-year-old daughter. Jaykie Funez-Andrade is currently being detained at the Rockingham County Jail with no pending criminal charges—as a "courtesy" to ICE. The incident occurred on Route 11 North in Harrisonburg, Virginia. #DemsUnited

I love that this campaign is ending with @PrimeNewYork’s Jerry Skurnik, who has more knowledge of NY politics in the fingernail of his pinky than @BillAckman has in total, pointing out that the brilliant Mr. Ackman could just check the @NYCCFB website before making accusations
I just checked the NYCFB website and can't find any payments to Sliwa's wife. I don't know him or his friends, so I couldn't check on them but it's actually not unusual for friends rather than enemies of a candidate to work on the campaign. It took 5 minutes to check

You mean to tell me that Andrew Cuomo is resorting to bigotry during the final weeks of a mayoral general election campaign where a Cuomo is running against a Dem nominee after losing the Dem primary to that nominee? I don’t believe it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1977_N…

Thank you @vmmaloney!!!!
Celebrated the opening of @solaronenyc new Environmental Education Center leading the way toward a greener, more sustainable New York. The event honored Andrew Kimball (@NYCEDCPresident) of @NYCEDC — where I once worked — with @StephenLevin33, @JennMontalvo, and @TainaBorrero!

The Child Victims Act was probably the most impressive legislative victory I’ve seen in the 20 years I’ve been around NY politics. Margaret Markey showed the blueprint for sticking to it until it’s done-even if it takes over a decade. nytimes.com/2025/10/03/nyreg…

An important message from noted communist @LHSummers
I have to say I have been struck that the prominent members of the financial community have had more to say being critical of @ZohranKMamdani's bad ideas about grocery stores in New York than they have the wholesale takeover of the @FederalReserve, which is a major threat to the financial system. I am very worried that highly irresponsible behaviors are being normalized by what President @realDonaldTrump is doing and by the failure of the establishment and of traditional voices. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
