Being a pastor is hard to explain unless you’ve stood in the pulpit yourself.
One week you’re walking with a family through their darkest valley.
The next, they’re gone without a word.
You’ll be praised and misunderstood, often by the same people in the same month.
Some days you see God move and go home full. Other days you lie awake rehearsing every word, wondering what you missed.
Everyone has an opinion of how you should pastor. You quickly learn you cannot preach with one eye on the crowd.
But then..a soul saved, a marriage mended, a grieving heart given comfort.
And suddenly you remember why you answered the call.
Ministry is heavy. But it’s a high calling.
And it’s worth it all.

The Florida St offensive holding call was not a foul.
The contact by the BYU defender was defensive pass interference.
Preacher,
I have never met a pastor who lost his ministry because of too much family time, but I have met some that lost their family because they gave too much to the ministry.
Make that ballgame your kids are playing a priority.
Go on that date with your wife.
Take that vacation.
You will not regret it and your church will be better off because you are leading your family well.
Pastor,
Not every subtraction is a loss and not every addition is a gain.
Families will leave but it will not always be bad.. families will join but it will not always be good.
Preach the Word!
Stay faithful.
5 men gave their hearts to Jesus last night at the Makado Baptist Church in Macon, GA.
A great night.
The longer I pastor, the less concerned I am with anything beyond tending to my own holiness, my marriage and family, and the steady-state work of shepherding the flock.
When I was younger my aspirations were wider.
Turns out, “faithfulness in the little” is actually the biggest matter.

The longer I go in this thing.. the more this is my goal every single day.
Biblical ignorance creates weak pastors.
Weak pastors create unbiblical doctrines.
Unbiblical doctrines create false gospels.
False gospels create cults.
Cults create ravenous wolves.
Ravenous wolves create biblical ignorance, destroy churches and lead people astray.
Preach the Word. Teach the Word. Doctrine matters.
What an honor it was to preach God's Word at the Mims Bible Conference just outside of Houston, Texas! 🙏
It was a privilege to share the pulpit with faithful men like Bob Pitman, and a special joy to preach for my friend, Pastor Jerry Chaddick.
My friends, The Erwins, knocked it out of the park. Love them!
The Lord was good to us the last few days.
Grateful for every moment, but I'm looking forward to being home with my family today.
