Great way to spend a Friday afternoon. Visited with a @DallasPD hero today, Senior Corporal Karissa David. One of the strongest women I’ve ever met. She has an unbelievable spirit, and sense of humor. Amazing, an absolute warrior!! Please read below…..

Great work, Rylan! This is an important start to the conversation: "Should police agencies deploy their patrol officers in single- or double-crewed units?" Nicely done! @DallasPD @MjrCitiesChiefs @TheIACP
Longstanding question in #policing: best to deploy 👮 or 👮👮 per 🚔? Whereas most PDs deploy one-ofcr units, some deploy two-ofcr units. In new article, we explore call-related output of #patrol units by single- vs double-crewed status: doi.org/10.1016/j.jcrimjus.2…. A 🧵: 1/8

I second the call for incident-level use-of-force data, particularly OISs. There should be a national (U.S.) repository that allows one to drill down and examine potential common correlates. You can't make good policy w/o good data. Thanks @rylan_simpson and @jnixy
Police shootings = salient & consequential but understudied events, especially in #Canada. In new article w/ @jnixy, we create & analyze primary dataset of police shootings – fatal, non-fatal & non-injurious – in Canada (excl Quebec) btwn 2017-2019: doi.org/10.1177/001112872312…. A 🧵 1/7

A little late in posting these, but I had the privilege of spending time with two good friends at the #2023firearmresearchconf in Chicago with Drs. Bill Terrill and @pizarro_jesenia. It was nice to meet @bethtris, too!

Just in case anyone is still unclear, gun buyback programs do little more than waste money and time. They do not reduce crime. More evidence from @Jerry_Ratcliffe jratcliffe.net/_files/ugd/f5… @DallasPD

Well played @SocialSecurity. Of my deceased fathers $1900/mo, my 81 yr/old mother could only get $39/mo. But, since we only have a copy of a marriage from 62 yrs ago in a small town 2000 miles away, she wont even get $39. What a bunch of typical mf-ing bureaucratic pieces of shit

SN2: @NYSDOS & @VitalChek = worthless government clowns & rude AF. 8 mths for @VitalChek 'research' a marriage lic., told me there is no copy. Took me 2 months of calling local courthouses to find it, IN NY (though, as it turns out, the copy is worthless to the @SocialSecurity

Side note 1: Whomever came up with, pushed, or decided on the Windfall act is a bigger piece of shit. You guaranteed an old woman (> $24,000 annual gross federal pension) will stay poor. I bet law makers' mommas aren't worried about next months rent.

As I said, best acknowledgment ever!
