SENATOR SLOTKIN: If you hear in the next 34 days that there is a new security threat that you’ve never heard of, that somehow requires federal law enforcement or the military and not local police, an alarm bell should go off in your brain. Do not let him get away with that.

FOX News: Dozens of ships bound for “Lake America” have piled up at the entrance to the Welland Canal. Canada is refusing to grant them permission to proceed. Ships that list “Lake Ontario” in their documents are passing through the canal without obstruction.
FOXnews: Десятки судов, следовавших в Американское озеро, столпились у входа в Уэлландский канал. Канада им не даёт разрешение плыть. Корабли, указавшие в документах озеро Онтарио, проходят по каналу беспрепятственно.

No claims of ships bound for "Lake America" being blocked at the Welland Canal appear in any FOX News reporting or official records. The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”. The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America. We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms. Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.

Chapman's Ice Cream has just done something EVERY Canadian should know. The largest ice cream company in Canada used to source fruit and nuts from American suppliers — for some, for over 30 years. Then, Trump imposed a 25% tariff on Canadian products. So, what did Chapman's do? 📷 They called Italy. 📷 They called Spain. 📷 They signed multi-year contracts with European suppliers. And the vice president said it perfectly: "Even if Trump wakes up smarter than yesterday, we're about to sign long-term deals with other countries — and the American companies that supply them will have nothing but their eyes to cry for." Oh, and on top of ALL that? They're COLDing their prices so that the average Canadian doesn't have to spend a single cent more. It's a family business. No shareholders. Just the Chapman family saying: "The least we can do is make sure Canadians still have the means to buy ice cream." That's what Canadian pride looks like. Next time you're at the grocery store — grab some Chapman's. Every scoop of ice cream is a vote for Canada.

"Just put the fires out!" Ever seen a boreal wildfire? I have. I used to fight them. When fire behaviour becomes extreme, you're not getting close to them. The radiant heat from a crown fire is face-melting from hundreds of metres away. All attempts at direct attack will fail, because dropping water on it becomes akin to trying to spit on a campfire...it evaporates before it even hits the flames. Additionally, reduced visibility, high winds, and turbulence makes aerial attack hazardous. As a wildland firefighter, I've been extracted off of wildfires twice as our fires blew up, both times having our gear burned over. We returned to find firehoses and metal melted into the ash. I've seen fireballs launched hundreds of feet high, and fires intense enough to produce lightning, influencing the weather around them. I've seen wildfires grow to the size of a major city in a short period of time. So no, we can't just put the fire out. Not being able to stop such a natural process is a truly humbling feeling.
