New manuscript is on BioRxiv! We (+@StephCragg) found that ChIs (via nAChRs) profoundly, continuously, and dynamically DEPRESS DA release, and dissociate cell body activity from striatal DA release, by preventing subsequent depolarisation of DA axons.

#dopamine #adenosine #astrocytes !
How much dopamine is released in the nucleus accumbens during tonic vs phasic spiking depends on extracellular adenosine level, which @BradleyMRoberts @StephCragg &al show depends on astrocytes & is affected by alcohol. Read more This Week @SfNJournals
