It's 2026, and as of yet, no country has achieved gender equality.
At the current rate of progress, it could take hundreds of years for women and girls to have the same rights and protections as men.

The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.

Today, the EU provided the first €10 million for a new Special Tribunal to prosecute Russian leaders for their role in Moscow’s war against Ukraine.
Russia’s leaders are responsible for this war, and they must be held accountable. There can be no impunity.

My consultations with member states on the latest tensions over Greenland reconfirm our strong commitment to the following:
▪️ Unity on the principles of international law, territorial integrity and national sovereignty;
▪️ Unity in support of and solidarity with Denmark and Greenland;
▪️ Recognition of the shared transatlantic interest in peace and security in the Arctic, notably working through NATO;
▪️ Shared assessment that tariffs would undermine transatlantic relations and are incompatible with the EU-US trade agreement;
▪️ Readiness to defend ourselves against any form of coercion;
▪️ Readiness to continue engaging constructively with the US on all issues of common interest.
Given the significance of recent developments and in order to further coordinate, I have decided to convene an extraordinary meeting of the European Council in the coming days.

Territorial integrity and sovereignty are fundamental principles of international law. They are essential for Europe and for the international community as a whole.
We have consistently underlined our shared transatlantic interest in peace and security in the Arctic, including through NATO. The pre-coordinated Danish exercise, conducted with allies, responds to the need to strengthen Arctic security and poses no threat to anyone.
The EU stands in full solidarity with Denmark and the people of Greenland. Dialogue remains essential, and we are committed to building on the process begun already last week between the Kingdom of Denmark and the US.
Tariffs would undermine transatlantic relations and risk a dangerous downward spiral. Europe will remain united, coordinated, and committed to upholding its sovereignty.

Many countries in the world are currently working on new or updated Bioeconomy Strategies to give farmers a new economic lifeline, to strengthen circularity and to promote sustainable agrifood systems. The bioeconomy is an important theme for multilateral cooperation - to ensure progressive convergence of best practices and standards and to support cross-border trade. This is why this week, the 🇪🇺EU and 🇧🇷Brazil launched, at the 🇺🇳UN’s @FAO in Rome, a new “Group of Friends” 🤝 on the Bioconomy. Earlier this year, EU Commissioners @CHansenEU @EUAgri and @JessikaRoswall @EU_ENV had underlined the importance of international cooperation on the bioeconomy in discussions with the management of @FAO. I am very glad to co-preside the new “Group of Friends” together with my great colleague Carla Barroso Carneiro, Brazil’s committed Ambassador to the UN in Rome, as a sign of our joint commitment to the rules-based international system @eu_eeas @EU_Partnerships. We are privileged that several countries from all continents already expressed their interest to join our group. Thanks a lot in particular to @childp_child, Deputy Director-General of the @EU_Commission’s DG Environment, and to Brazil’s National Secretary of Bioeconomy, Carina Pimenta, for their inspiring words on the forthcoming Bioeconomy Strategies of the EU and of Brazil. And to @FAO’s knowledgable @KavehZahedi2030 for the important work of his team on data, principles, projects and best practices.

I heard their call and their aspirations — for fairness, for accountability. So that Serbia can fulfil its full potential.
Their energy is needed to find a way forward.
