I finished the website menu and I think I reached the stage where I'm comfortable with sharing the SteamData.Ninja website publicly. There is still a lot to do, though.

Update: There was a lot of refactoring involved, but I finally finished the website's automation so that Steam's data is collected and updated daily.
I'm now using @GamalyticSite 's API to include their excellent estimates for gross revenue, owners and copies sold.

Unity will soon charge devs per-install after a certain threshold. I'd like to express my concerns regarding privacy (tracking installs/downloads), preservation and changing the whole business model while devs are using the engine for their projects. 🫤

I made a small update today, mostly bug fixes, but I also added a button to see all reviews or only Steam purchases. Here you can see #BaldursGate3 's very successful launch : steamdata.ninja/game/1086940 #gamedev
Many new followers today, and lots of emails too! 😅 And so many kind words, thank you so much! If you messaged me concerning bugs or suggestions, I will do my best to answer promptly.

How does Steam's 'New & Trending' tab work? We detail what we know in the latest @GameDiscoverCo newsletter: newsletter.gamediscover.co/p… (Also: Station to Station's excellent pre-release wishlists explained.)
New update:
- July's data
- Median time played & "Play Time per Dollar" added to game pages.
- Rank badges to highlight when some statistics are in the top or bottom percentiles compared to peers.

Interesting!
I just published an in-depth article on sales/review ratios of Steam games

I'm adding an automated English description below each chart. It's already done for game pages, publishers and developers. The same for Tags and Genres will follow soon. Sample page : steamdata.ninja/game/10

One time, my solo indie game was compared with a recent Nintendo title. It was meant as a criticism, but tbh I couldn't dream of a bigger compliment. 🥰
#gamdev protip (opinion: maybe I'm wrong!)
your game, no matter the price or budget, is being directly compared to AAA titles of the same genre!
Almost nobody cares:
- if 5 or 500 people worked on a game
- if it took 6 or 60 months to complete
- if it cost $1k or $10M to make
The website has been updated with data up to the end of June, and two new charts have been added! #gamedev #indiedev

You launched your game, got some awesome traction and then silence...
You start to wonder:
"Is it my gameplay?
"Is it my lack of marketing?"
"My mechanics are probably bad..."
Have you collected any data on it?
If not, how can you make an educated decision moving forward?
It's quite uncommon for negative reviews to have a longer playtime than the positive ones. (This is Team Fortress 2 : steamdata.ninja/game/440 )

Found a possible explanation 😁

🚨If you are checking steamworks for the latests sales and wishlists, relax, it isn't updating right now. The Steam servers typically bog down when there is a storewide sale. Everything is ok.🚨
The Japanese negative #steam reviews are relatively constant across all game genres. (This visualization will be released soon, the data for all 450 tags will take a bit more time to generate) #gamedev
Japanese reviewers own more games but also give more negative reviews. It's probably a combination of:
- Poor translations / UI issues
- Cultural differences
- Higher expectations
I'm working on a new visualization that will help me understand this issue. #gamedev #indiegame

PSA: Valve has been quietly banning newly submitted Steam games using AI-created art assets - if submitters can't prove they have rights for the assets used to train the algorithms: reddit.com/r/aigamedev/comme…

That's 22 cents per hour of fun.
Another classic of the genre. This is for a $9.99 match-3 game that is 97% positive on Steam. It's not a F2P game with microtransactions. You pay for what you get, and what you get is great.
An important clarification 😁
I felt it was important to defend this HackerNews post, since the OP is talking about something that all professional game developers know:
