🙌What a start into the new year! Latest work by former PhD student @slv_caballero, showing how frictional forces mediated by cortical flows help shape the ascidian oocyte, is out in @NaturePhysics🎉 nature.com/articles/s41567-0… Full🧵below for a sneak peak into the paper😁👇 Pls RT
My PhD work is finally out @NaturePhysics!! We looked at the interplay between the cortex and cytoplasmic components to explore the role of friction forces in cellular morphogenesis. Many thanks to @HeisenbergCPLab, Raphaël Voituriez and Andrew Callan-Jones A thread (1/6)

You need a cheat sheet to effectively get from microscope image to publication-ready figure? You may like the poster summaries @ChriSchmied and I made. Fun fact, we used as template of the great @posit_pbc @rstudiotips cheat sheets 😁 blog 7: helenajamborwrites.netlify.a…

Good things come to those who wait they say....and boy did we wait (and do a couple of more experiments). But here it is in all it's beauty the Rocha et al.! It seems that the end does justify the means. nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

📢New preprint alert!🥳 Ever wondered how cells migrate in vivo when there is no ECM?🤔 Work from @SteTavano et al. shows that in early zebrafish embryos, the lateral mesendoderm cells (LME) migrate on the overlying ectoderm cells. Read more below (1/n)👇 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

We used lateral mesendoderm (LME) migration in the early zebrafish gastrula to get a better understanding of how cell motion is modulated in the absence of a coherently formed ECM

We found that LME uses the ectoderm as a substrate. That’s fundamental to regulate the end of the animal pole-directed migration as the tissue properties of the animal ectoderm make it non-permissive to cell migration

When will organizing committees finally step up and ask people with sexist/racist/discriminatory comments of any kind to get off stage and ban them from panels like this? By providing a stage the community is still allowing such thoughts to perpetuate. science.org/content/article/…

Very happy to share our latest work by @feyzanar in collaboration with @nartimsoole @EdouardHannezo @jmerrin. We built a biomimetic system to study E-cadherin-mediated contacts and showed they are maintained by F-actin/E-cadherin flows. ⏮️⏪↔️⏩⏭️ tinyurl.com/actocadflows
