It was a pleasure to recognize & celebrate Broadway Tire, an exceptional family business that has been operating for many decades on Route 28 on the Methuen-Lawrence line. They have provided services not only to residents in the Merrimack Valley but to visitors from all over.

Thank you to the many community groups & musicians for making the #Methuen Santa Parade a great event! Thank you, Jill Stackelin, for all the planning – exceptional as always! Thank you, Methuen, for making me this year's grand marshal – & thank you, Busty, for the awesome ride!!

We have won some major legislative gains for our Veterans this session – including sweeping reform of Veteran care & services across MA & at our Soldiers’ Homes, & a major bill creating opportunities for our Vets & military families. This is great progress – & the work continues.

On Veterans Day, we recommit ourselves to addressing the unique challenges of our Veteran community – including Veteran suicide (which continues to rise), homelessness, mental health, & career opportunities in civilian life.

Our Veterans are remarkable for how engaged they are in community life & how committed they are to using their skills to improve the lives of others.

This #VeteransDay, our community as always showed up for our Veterans!! Thank you to all who came out to show support for those who have served. Most importantly, thank you to my fellow Veterans – not only for your service but for all you do to make our community a better place.

There are many safety concerns for these families at this site, & the basic support mechanisms they will need are not in place. We must do a lot better, & we need to find solutions quickly. I am very encouraged that DHCD is meeting w/ the Mayor today to discuss the situation. 2/2

Visiting the Wall That Heals is a moving experience for all who choose to do so. To our Vietnam Veterans & your families – thank you for answering the call when your country called you to serve. We salute & honor your service.

We have within our midst only about a third of the Veterans that served in Vietnam – and, as we all know, many still suffer from the effects of Agent Orange & PTSD, both from their service & the way they were treated when they arrived back in the U.S.

Visiting this wall is a fitting tribute to our #VietnamVeterans, who we grossly mistreated when they returned home from service – a black stain on our country that will remain forever. However, we can welcome them home now & do all we can to provide them with support & care.
