Lots of talk around nationalizing Starlink or SpaceX over limits placed on *Starshield* in Ukraine. It's important that everyone knows that Starshield is different to Starlink. Although it is built and operated by SpaceX, Starshield is owned and controlled by the U.S. government. So, SpaceX does with Starshield what the government demands. This is essentially the only part of SpaceX which is in some sense nationalized and it's the part which people are using to argue why it needs to be nationalized. Regardless of its effects on the war, I would also like to express that Nationalization of SpaceX could very well be civilisational suicide for the U.S. and some of its allies. One of the things which makes SpaceX so great is that it doesn't operate like a government agency. Nationalization would kill the company's potential. Space is the greatest frontier for humanity and, like all grat frontiers, whoever wins in space gains a massive upper hand on Earth. SpaceX is currently the most successful entity in the space industry and those who are paying attention know it has insane potential. If the U.S. wants to remain relevant long into the future, SpaceX as it is today is one of their greatest assets.
