Since childhood, I have always heard that coconut water (mmiri aku oyibo) can neutralise the effects of harmful and unharmful medicines in the body. Yesterday, I decided to put this belief to the test on my sick daughter. As a microbiologist with a BSc and MSc, I believe in facts, not myths. My daughter was shivering with cold and had a headache, so I gave her paracetamol. Two minutes later, I gave her coconut water, believing it could stop the medicine from working. But guess what? 👀😂 Nothing happened as I had expected! Honestly, I was surprised that I had believed this for most of my life without questioning it.
