For 41 years of her 44-year nursing career, she worked at Pine Villa Nursing Home — now Cura Care Center
— in Melrose, including in the Pine Haven memory care unit.

When attendees arrive at the Sauk Centre Civic Arena in Sauk Centre Sept. 25 for the annual Fall Tasting Event benefitting the Melrose and Sauk Centre Lions clubs, the work that goes into putting it together will be mostly invisible.
They will see tables filled with wine, beer, liquor, food and other products. They will sample new things, visit with friends and have opportunities to win prizes.
What they will not see are the months of emails, phone calls, product lists, vendor coordination and contingency plans that make the two-hour event possible.

A farmer's hands author the story of their lives and career. For Morris Medlang, it was his hands that wrote the final chapter of his and his wife Jenelle's dairying journey.
A severe form of carpal tunnel syndrome limited the feeling and function in the dairyman's hands prevented him from continuing his career in dairy.
"In May, a couple fingers went numb," Morris said.
"They didn't know what was going on either because I had already developed a lot of swelling."
