Our final IKEA Student Community Champion of the school year is Staples High School rising senior Amelia Berkowitz. A member of the girls tennis team for the Wreckers, Amelia is the President of Project Happy Feet at Staples. Project Happy Feet is a nonprofit dedicated to increasing access to sports equipment by donating athletic gear and shoes to schools and communities with limited resources.
“I value my involvement in this organization because it allows me to use my passion for sports to create a positive impact on my community,” Amelia says. @StaplesAD @IKEA_NewHaven @IKEA

From the dramatic bottom of the 7th game tying home run from Trumbull's Brayden Jagoe to force extra innings, to the go ahead infield hit from Staples' Cole Landgraf in the 8th, to the final out in the Wreckers' 3-2 Class LL State Championship win on Saturday - Staples High School student radio broadcasters (WWPT) called the game at Palmer Field.
Charlie Curran (play by play) and Michael Brennan (color) had the radio call, and added a beautiful thank you to WWPT advisor and Staples Media teacher Geno Heiter before signing off. @RadioWWPT @NFHS_Org @StaplesAD @staplesbaseball #ctbase
