Thanks to the incomparable @JoyAnnReid for allowing me to explain the likely forthcoming charges against Trump and his apparent co-conspirators in connection with January 6--and to appear with @LawProfButler, who has had an immense impact on my thinking about the law.

The SCOTUS ruling in Fischer v. US on Section 1512(c)(2) narrows Jan. 6 prosecutions but deals a blow to Trump, underscoring that it is unlawful to create false documents for use in official proceedings. Read my Law360 piece w/ @StantonLaw & Torie Feldman. law360.com/articles/1855148

The Supreme Court decided Fischer v. United States on the scope of Section 1512(c)(2), which makes it a crime to “corruptly obstruct, influence, or impede any official proceeding.”
Fischer participated in the violent assault on the Capitol on January 6. Does 1512(c)(2) apply?

1. Last week, @Target announced it was closing 9 stores due to theft, generating an avalanche of credulous coverage from nearly every major media outlet
One thing that was missing from all these stories: DATA
So Popular Information tracked it down

This thread is half true.
Reliable shoplifting data is extremely hard to come by, and Target only publishes “net shrink”.

However, using police data to refute Target’s claim is equally unreliable, as data shows most retailers do not bother reporting cases to the police.

Jim Jordan can't lawfully interfere with an ongoing state prosecution. As I said this morning on @Morning_Joe, when I was a public defender, I wished I could run to Congress to get relief for a client.
But the balance of powers between the feds and the states doesn't allow it.
I explained in more detail in a recent article for @MSNBC, with co-authors @NormEisen and @FredWertheimer.

A bone-chilling development in Atlanta just now: heavily militarized police just arrested bail support and legal defense workers who are providing charitable support to protestors arrested for opposing CopCity in Atlanta. Police are calling "financial crimes."
