Odd timing. The same companies telling investors AI will lift output per head are telling candidates to expect longer weeks. If the tools were changing how work gets done, hours would be the first to give. Long hours as a hiring filter usually means the process never changed.

Isn't it ironic that Anthropic is receiving soon billions in IPO funds for allowing developers to make software, yet the developers themselves, some of which maintain open source projects, that the allows the digital economy, go unfunded. There's a disconnect from those that provide value and those that seek wealth for their own gain exclusively. – at Delanco, NJ

What can Congress do today, Sept 17, 2026 When will Congress take action for freedom of iPhone app installation from this monopoly and it's anti consumer business practices? Summary: Make the alternative app distribution available to the United States will readily support when the availability of the both iphone apps, and the android apps it that it does at this time. Though it's a wait and additional wait at this time until there's a Congress willing to not bend to big corporations, and also to properly represent people who are tech enthusiasts that benefit consumers ultimately because monopolistic behavior from these trillion dollar corporations simply buy off politics on their political servants. Why isn't apple alternative app distribution available for united states ? Apple has not made alternative app distribution (such as third-party app stores and direct web sideloading) available in the United States because no federal law currently mandates it, and Apple maintains a policy of restricting these features strictly to regions where they are legally required. According to Apple Support, alternative app distribution is explicitly geofenced and only available to users who are physically located in and have their account region set to the European Union, Japan, or Brazil. Already with the android sideloading, you are a second class citizen and have to click a hidden link, and not the main blue link: From my webpage during the installation procedure of an android app to sideload: "Do not tap the blue button The only button that looks like a button says Got it, and it does not install anything — it closes the box and abandons the installation. Install anyway is plain grey text above it and does not look tappable. It is. That is the whole of what stops most people here." comment #1: So there's more freedom in the Brazil, Japan, and European Union regarding how you can install apps? This is very strange and terrible to consider if you are an American in the United States. The primary reasons for its absence in the U.S. include: Absence of Federal Legislation: In the EU, the Digital Markets Act (DMA) legally forced Apple to open its ecosystem. In contrast, the United States has not passed equivalent nationwide legislation. While antitrust bills like the Open App Markets Act and the proposed App Store Freedom Act have been introduced in Congress and various state legislatures, none have been signed into federal law. Apple's Security & Monetization Stance: Apple maintains that its tightly controlled App Store model is essential for protecting user privacy, device integrity, and security. From a business standpoint, keeping distribution exclusive to the official App Store allows Apple to protect its ecosystem commission structure. The Current U.S. Compromise: Rather than allowing entirely separate app stores, antitrust pressures and ongoing U.S. court rulings (such as the Epic Games v. Apple aftermath) have instead resulted in a compromise: Apple allows U.S. developers to link out to external payment options rather than using Apple's in-app billing, but the apps themselves must still be downloaded from the official iOS App Store. comment #2: When is Congress going to take action and make freedom to install apps from a 3rd party app store that me as a developer are waiting and waiting for freedom to endure in the United States regarding installing apps on the iphone? My GoodsAppStore.com will readily support when the avilability of an "iphone alternative app distribution" so that both iphone apps, and android apps it that it does at this time will be provided. Though it's a wait and additional wait at this time until there's a Congress willing to not bend to big corporations, and also to properly represent people who are tech enthusiasts that benefit consumers ultimately because monopolistic behavior from these trillion dollar corporations simply buy off politics on their political servants. comment #3: Ask yourselves, how many politicians have technical backgrounds of computer science degrees, the answer is very few and historically just as few. This seems to be a problem of politics. Those that are tech savvy do not get elected or perhaps do not run as often due to a variety of reasons, it's a popularity contest therefore funding is required, and how many politicians are receiving big money from billionaire / trillionaires, more than a few it seems. I would be happy to run, and however busy I am in the private sector, and like I said, there is little to no support for those with computer science associates and computer science bachelor's degrees that I have from these recruiting popular parties both from the Democratic and Republican groups regarding tech. Time will tell how far back the Unites States will go hindering it's capability to understand and regulate tech when there is so little interest in technology backgrounds from its politicians.
