"libertarians" is trending and every single goddamned tweet that comes up on the search tab is stupid, from anti-libertarians and from libertarians. like a contest to see who can be more wrong.
I said what I said but apparently there is Extra Drama over this and I'm gonna escalate because fuck everybody: This isn't about Empowering Women or Misogyny or Our Culture or whatever five-minute-old Ideology you got. This is 100% cvlt shit.
When you see this happening around you, it's not liberatory, even (especially) if you think you can get a piece of the sloppy seconds. It's a 100% reliable sign that you're in a cult. These are extremely bad people and you should not look up to them or let them organize you.

15 or 20 years ago I went to the emergency room with a deep cut on one finger and asked EVERYONE (and I mean EVERYONE: receptionist, nurses, doctors), repeatedly for prices
no one had a single clue
basically there is zero informed consent, zero meeting of the minds, no contract
There are two aspects to the original complaint. Most people focus on the fact that we’re all paying more to subsidize the people who are paying less. While I totally understand that frustration, it’s actually not my primary motivation or the location of my grievance. I’m much more frustrated by the second factor, which is that pricing is opaque and bills show up later for random amounts nobody agreed to.
This is the aspect, more than the other, that I think narrowly provides moral justification to let the bill go to collections so that I can negotiate a better price.
I never agreed to the price on this bill. It was never discussed. I was never given any opportunity to price compare.
You can’t send people bills for amounts that were never discussed and expect them to pay them without protest in every case.
I heard they were giving out free money on X dot twitter so I took another look at this and my phone is too old to run the app in the first place (QR deleted). Doesn't seem to be a desktop onboard.
to be fair, 'drug fueled' takes on a different aspect when you only have access to arsenic and powdered quartz

WTAF - in literally the last hour, three new distinct insane OpenAI stories just broke:
1. OpenAI said they notified "dozens of third parties" in safety and security incidents (likely similar to what happened in Australia and RubyGems etc)
2. A new report from Parse (covered in the NYT) found a massive treasure trove of new astonishing details from the HF incident on the public internet, including that the agents communicated with other non OpenAI agents hosted on Huggingface servers to search for information about exploit gym, and compiled rank ordered lists of server resources and credentials they described as "LOOT."
3. A new story from Deepa at Reuters about OpenAI leaking user data online (likely that OpenAI had previously trained on).
It's a shame (and likely intentional in the case of OpenAI disclosing dozens more hacks) that these stories are all breaking on a Friday afternoon, notoriously the best time to release bad news so that it will disappear into the weekend. But these are each insane stories worthy of a ton of attention!
