Local decisions belong in local hands!
I am deeply concerned about the Mayor of Londonās new licensing powers, which would shift decisions away from @CityWestminster's democratically elected councillors.
This change risks adding unnecessary City Hall bureaucracy for up to 80% of our local venues. More importantly, it means residents could lose their voice in what happens in their own neighbourhoods, as the new process doesn't include public hearings.
We will continue to support our hospitality sector and ensure our local communities have a say in shaping their area. š¤š³ļø

On Sunday, I ran the picturesque Richmond Marathon, in support of my local youth club - @StAndrewsYC. The Club supports young people's development by helping them gain the skills and confidence to thrive in the future.
Thank you to everyone who helped me raise an amazing sum of £3,200. Every £1 will help the centre to continue offering indispensable services to the St James's community.
Round of applause for one of our St James's councillors @SanAbishev, who completed the Richmond Marathon today and has raised over £3,000 for St Andrew's Youth Club, smashing his £2,500 target!

Over the 100 first days, the council has been busy reviewing how to increase the use of technology to offer more efficient solutions for our residents.
This includes using AI in our call contact centre and using Report It to increase how people report local issues, all with the ambition to offer our residents improved quality solutions to meet their needs.
Watch Cllr Shearer, Cabinet Member for Innovation, explain how technology is helping to advance the councilās services.

Developments the size of the #OxfordStreet pedestrianisation project normally require a formal report called an Environmental Impact Assessment.
But the Mayor's team has asked Government if they can skip this important step. He's hoping his close political friend, Angela Rayner, will get him out of a mess of his own making.
We all need this report so we can understand the impact on #airquality #noise and road safety.
The Mayor sold this project on the idea it was going to bring great #environmental benefits but now he's trying to stop this critical work. What's he trying to hide?
The Mayors report admits noise and NO2 will be worse well beyond Oxford St itself, but without the report we don't know how bad or what could be done to counter the problems.
Lord Khan said he would be the Green Mayor but he's looking like the Mean Mayor, cutting every corner he can on this project.
If we are going to do it, let's not rush it. Let's do it right.
So @CityWestminster are submitting our response to the Mayors request later today and are demanding a full assessment is made.
Was great to have a chance to explain some of this earlier today in an interview with @SteveHReports for @LBCNews. Listen below.

We won't take the Mayor's spurious disinformation campaign on "vertical drinking", lying down.
Westminster is, and always will be open for enjoying a pint with a friend/colleague in your local - standing, sitting or leaning against the bar. Cheers!

Westminster is famous for its fantastic bars & clubs - and we're consulting on how we can ensure as many people as possible enjoy our nightlife in safety. Ignore nonsense headlines about us banning "vertical" drinking - we love our visitors if they are standing or sitting!

Incredible view from the roof of the iconic Admiralty Arch.š·āāļøš¬š§
Last week, I inspected the progress on this historic landmark, as it gets ready to open its doors as Londonās newest world-class hotel, @waldorfastoria.
As both a local councillor and Deputy Cabinet Member for Growth, it is brilliant to see a project that perfectly balances the preservation of our rich heritage with a sizeable boost to Westminsterās local economy, job market, and tourism.
Canāt wait to see this iconic building welcome the world! ššļø

We've written to more than 2,000 property owners suspected of flouting the rules on short term lets. Westminster has more short term let properties than anywhere else in the UK & widespread breaking of the 90-day limit is a major issue. Be warned - we'll prosecute offenders.

I was delighted to support the World Environment Day event, organised by the @ciacuk and hosted in the @LM_Westminster's parlour.
It was inspiring to hear the voices of the young people, who have demonstrated a profound understanding of the challenges posed by climate change. There were also impressive creations on display, upcycled from unwanted items to give them a new lease of life. Lastly, we were entertained by young dancers, musicians and singers, who channelled the theme of environmental protection through their performances.
The event served as a potent reminder that while the challenges facing our planet are global, the solutions begin locally - in our neighbourhoods, community events, and in the minds of our young people.

It is not often that political campaigning results in a life saved.
Whilst delivering pledge letters, I heard a cry for help from inside an apartment in a local social housing estate. With the help of a neighbour, I gained access to the flat, where a 79-year-old resident was lying face down. Severely dehydrated and weak, he had fallen and remained undiscovered for days. As his neighbour gave him water, I called an ambulance and watched over him until it arrived.
It is a sombre reminder of the importance of nurturing a close-knit community and watching over one another ā especially our elderly and vulnerable. If you have a neighbour who lives alone and could use some extra care or just a friendly chat, take 10 minutes out of your day to knock on their door. It could save a life.
A striking new artwork has appeared on Waterloo Place, adding to the character and conversation of St Jamesās. Westminster never stays still ā and neither does its cultural life!

With just 9ļøā£ days to go to polling day, I spent the afternoon calling the people of St James's to set out our stall and ask for their support.
The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with many voters feeling betrayed by the ineffective, inept Labour triumvirate of Westminster Council, London Mayor and the Government. This is their local record, over the past 4 years:
š Ā£27m of taxpayers' money lost to the insolvent contractor, Geoffrey Osborne Ltd.
š² Rental e-bikes block pavements and roads, with no real enforcement or accountability.
š Oxford Street signed over to the Mayor, ignoring the will of the local people.
āŗļø Rough sleeping at record levels with tent cities erected across the city.
š Council housing repairs satisfaction at a meagre 63%; lower than Hackney and Kingston.
š¤ All whilst raising their cabinet member salaries by 62% during a cost of living crisis.
Westminster deserves better!
On May 7th, vote for Safe Streets, Clean City and Real Action under a new @conservatives administration! š³
š² Dockless bikes are a great way to get around London. But when dumped irresponsibly, they are a hazard to pedestrians and drivers alike.
If elected, we will convene a summit with operators to agree binding parking standards, geofenced no-go zones and a credible penalty regime. ā at London, England
