As #ProbationDay fell on a Saturday, many marked it at #unpaidwork Throwback to 2020 where prior to leaving #StHelena, I planted an #endemic #gumwoodtree in recognition of the excellent #communityservice partnership between @StHelenaPO & #SaintHelenaNationalTrust 🌱#community

21st August 2021 marks the 114th Anniversary of the 1907 Probation of Offenders Act, the beginnings of the statutory #probationservice which made way for the service we know as @hmpps
#Probation existed on #StHelena for many years as part of different departments but 2013, this was formalised with the first qualified #probationofficer arriving on island. Soon after a #teamoftwo #technicalcooperatives were established in order to meet the community’s needs!
Roll forward to today’s #probationservice that sits within @StHelenaGovt #HeathandSocialCarePortfolio with responsibilities for #courts, #communityservice #communityinterventions #custodyinterventions #safeguardingboard and much more, a Happy #ProbationDay to all our colleagues!
