Two developments: Mumbai AQI 1) BMC to use 3,000 air-quality sensors installed at infrastructure sites to flag pollution hotspots. BMC says such a system will also help them decide on area-specific interventions, including road washing, to keep dust pollution under check. 2) Road washing using non-potable water will be back on the agenda as a measure to control air pollution in Mumbai. It maybe recounted that just a week ago, the civic standing committee had rejected a proposal to wash roads using water brought in by tankers amid the ongoing 10% water cuts in the city. The Centre has flagged data gaps and regulatory hurdles in curbing steep hospital mark-ups on medicines and consumables, saying it needs to establish the extent of margins before considering wider price controls. The Centre already fixes ceiling prices for scheduled medicines and has limited  annual price increases for non-scheduled drugs upto 10%. It has also decided to cap trade margins on certain anti-cancer medicines at 30% of the maximum retail price (MRP).
