PCSK9 inhibitors are one of the greatest success stories in human genetics. Their discovery was enabled by sequencing the genomes of African Americans in Texas.
Congratulations Kelsey!
Congratulations to my wonderful postdoc fellow, Dr Kelsey Watts. She not only received a fundable score on her F32 application but also received the @AHAScience postdoc fellowship. She is co-mentored by @PRodriguezMD.

Excited to share my PhD student Jordan Reed’s final paper on how the the genetic background of mice impact the metabolic response to Western, Mediterranean, Vegetarian, and Vegan diets.
tldr: genetic background is more important than diet composition.

A story in two parts!
What began as a Twitter joke with @Lola_UMich two years ago is now an MPI grant application after much hard work by #DanielKupor and @yonathanaberra
I am glad to not to be the only crazy member of this team: @Lola_UMich and @DrHeatherFerris

We are rushing headlong into a hell of our own making. This is evil and this woman is evil. These freaks are determined to algorithmically strip mine every last scrap of your personhood so that engaging in basic human conduct without technical mediation becomes anxiety inducing.
Can't really think of a better metaphor for the techbro impulse to crush everything interesting and artistic and human in order to make a bland, shallow product in service of The Brand.
Really speaks volumes that you can have literal Nazis march through Cville with minimal police push back, but God forbid students protest against a genocide on the lawn, that requires state police to come and crack skulls.

after telling students their tents violated school policy, UVA administrators discovered the tents do not actually violate school policy so they simply changed the school policy without any notice whatsoever.

It is amazing how unembarrassed they are to assert ownership over changes authors make in response to critique offered primarily by uncompensated peers and not by publisher employees.
