Delighted to see our paper published in @NatureComms! We identified EDA2R as the top gene linked to aging across all human tissues, acting as both a biomarker of inflammaging and a driver of aging. @LJMUSportSci

A recent study reports nearly 100% MHC-I (slow) fibres in an ultra-endurance runner.

We observed the same phenotype in a male 2:30 h marathoner, whose slow-fibre proportion increased from 61.6% to 100% over 7 years.
This runner also carries the CDKN1A rs236448 AA genotype (frequency: 14% in EUR), previously associated with a greater potential for an increased proportion of slow-twitch muscle fibres.

Telomere length and appendicular lean mass over six years in older adults with overweight or obesity and metabolic syndrome: a prospective cohort study
Héctor Vázquez-Lorente and colleagues found that longer baseline telomere length was associated with better preservation of appendicular lean mass over six years, supporting telomere length as a potential biomarker of healthy muscle aging in older adults with metabolic syndrome.
