No reason to be in a hurry with restricted free agency
If AB is awesome this year, you re-sign him and move Suggs or Bane elsewhere
If he is just okay, try to get him back on a value deal (and maybe still move Suggs)
An extension for Orlando’s Anthony Black is “unlikely at this current juncture” and appears headed towards restricted free agency, per @TheSteinLine.
“The Magic have concerns about the long-term financial obligations they have already stacked up by signing Jalen Suggs to a lucrative extension in addition to frontcourt stalwarts Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner and summer of 2025 marquee trade acquisition Desmond Bane. … All of which means Black, barring a shift in the state of negotiations over the next week-plus, could well have to face restricted free agency next summer despite his rising stature.”

Lots of people seem confused about why Zach isn’t writing for The Ringer
My guess would be that’s not what they hired him for (and potentially don’t value him for) and he wants the freedom that a substack provides
Regardless, great to have him back writing NBA
*** ANNOUNCEMENT *** Welcome (back) to....THE LOWE POST:

Regardless of logistics
I do find it funny that this implies the Dream org didn’t think they had enough of a chance at the Finals to think ahead and book an arena
Can’t wait!

This is always my favorite time of the year
EPCOT in the morning, football all Sunday
We are so back
Funniest part of the Clippers situation is if Pablo never looked into it, I’d guess the league never would’ve punished the Clippers
It is quite literally my birthday otherwise I’d get a video out
BREAKING: The NBA has ruled on the Los Angeles Clippers in for salary cap circumvention investigations on Kawhi Leonard after yearlong probe -- stripping the franchise of 5 first-round picks, issuing a $30 million fine to owner Steve Ballmer and suspensions for Ballmer, Lawrence Frank and Gillian Zucker, sources tell ESPN.
Kawhi Leonard will have to pay $700,000 in restitution for improper benefits by the Clippers for his uncle and former business rep, Dennis Robertson. No contract void or suspension for Leonard. And Robertson -- who was fired by Leonard in June -- is being banned by the NBA from all business dealings.
Not a media job but
First job out of college I moved 6 hours away to Atlanta for a job as a basketball coach earning $1200 a month, a room, and $50 a week for groceries
A little over a year in I started getting traction on YouTube, first YT check was for $1200, I went home
Sports & media people - How much $$$ did you make your 1st job in the industry? Let's get some salary transparency going.

In my experience, that was really solid for an entry level job in basketball at the time. A lot of guys work for free to work for the right people and most people that “make it” give up 10+ years of their life first
Haha this is funny to see side by side
I’m generally much more positive on the Nuggets side of this than most it seems!
It’s nice that people actually have different opinions. Love watching both Tucker and Matt.

The former CEO of the Walt Disney Company… owning the LA Lakers…
The jokes write themselves
The Los Angeles Lakers are being sold to American businessman Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for a record breaking price over $12 billion, multiple sources told ESPN.
Kushner and Iger were involved in the expansion process in Las Vegas, but a stunning turn, they pivoted to make an aggressive offer to buy the Lakers from Mark Walter, who had purchased a controlling interest in the team from the Buss family last year.
HTTYD came out 15 years ago and the animation looks dated enough at this point that being able to watch it in live action is a genuine upgrade
Moana (animated) came out less than 10 years ago, the animation holds up great, and is one of the most streamed movies every year
