I think that the most damning fact about the state of politics in the UK is that George Osborne and Ed Balls, who as the architects of austerity in the UK are responsible for upwards of 100K deaths, gutting local government, and deliberately choosing not to invest in the upkeep of existing infrastructure (let alone the construction of new infrastructure) at the precise moment in history where it was cheaper to do so than it had ever been, have now stepped sideways into influential media positions where they can help ensure that we do not discuss the deep political and economic failures that their actions begat.
