I'm a cheeky, rare kākāpō parrot. I got famous doing crazy things on TV. I now use my celebrity for good, as New Zealand's official Spokesbird for Conservation.

Skaarrk! If another flightless bird from New Zealand is going to star in a miniseries, I'm glad it's the Fiordland tokoeka kiwi. They're pretty special, and stoats are causing them a lot of trouble right now. Watch and learn. Episode one coming 14 June.

Skraaaarrk! An update from @takapodigs and an excellent photo from Petrus H.
Our rangers caught up with #kakapo Sirocco yesterday, for an annual health check and transmitter change. He’s doing well and looking fine. No immediate plans for a new ‘tour’, due to other team priorities. Pic: Petrus Hedman. #conservation #parrots @Spokesbird

Our feathered friends also need their own shots from time to time. Be more like a kākāpō and get the shot, bro. Warning - not for those squeamish about needles. Get the shot: covid19.govt.nz/super-saturd… #SuperSaturday

Having finished on Whenua Hou, our ranger team have started changing #kakapo transmitters on Anchor Island in Dusky Sound. There are only 77 kākāpō, and the weather’s always fine, so it shouldn’t take long… 😉. Good luck team! #conservation #parrots

Skraaarrk! Have you ever wondered why there aren't many photos with my extended family and I? That's because kākāpō are solo hikers. Just like my auntie - kākāpō Hoki, pictured here in 1992. Has it really been 29 years since this photo?! 📷: G. C Climo.

Boom! This is one of Flossie's chicks from 1998. Flossie is best-known as the bird that Richard Henry - the last surviving Fiordland kākāpō took a shine to in 1998. Flossie produced three chicks that season - Sinbad, Gulliver and Kuia - who share his precious Fiordland genes.
