UPDATE: The White House says work is still ongoing on the U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.
On July 6, White House spokeswoman Liz Huston said the Trump administration is continuing to evaluate the “best structure” for a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile.
The reserve was established by executive order in March 2025 and is intended to hold BTC seized through criminal or civil forfeiture as a long-term U.S. reserve asset.
Reports suggest the U.S. holds more than 300,000 bitcoin:native.
The takeaway: Bitcoin’s role in U.S. policy is no longer theoretical.
