Toronto Chinatown Land Trust is buying a mixed-use building in Huron Square — its first ever purchase as part of its mission to remove properties from the private market and keep them affordable under community ownership.

There are valid critiques of Olivia chow - I’ve made them myself ! But Brad Bradford would be a complete disaster for this city, conservatives would run every single part of the lives of Toronto residents

BREAKING GREENBELT NEWS.
As early as June 2021, the Ford government was already discussing selling off parts of our Greenbelt to developers in private.
Ford’s government must think Ontarians are stupid. We’re not. The RCMP investigation is ongoing and the Ontario Greens won’t stop fighting until there’s justice and accountability in the Greenbelt scandal.
David Piccini’s assistant sent developer’s request to housing minister’s office before land was removed from Greenbelt thetrillium.ca:443/news/the-…

I cycle to work every day. Toronto to Etobicoke. I was hit by a car that went through a red light. Protections for cyclists is poor. The laws protecting cyclists are ignored by the Toronto police and rarely enforced.
If I drove a car I would be adding to congestion. This is insane. I am off on bicycle to get to work.

I don’t normally post about local politics but have to say something here:
The fact that these bike lanes are actually being removed is so embarrassingly backwards and regressive.
That Brad Bradford, a competitive cyclist and former city planner, supports removal of the lanes is another layer of insanity. Total spineless move. This guy really will say anything to get elected - not the kind of person who should be mayor of our glorious city nation of Toronto.

i genuinely don’t get it. fair enough if oasis aren’t your thing, you don’t have to like them. but why go out of your way to slag them off? and i’m not just talking about oasis here, i mean bands in general. music has helped people through some of the darkest times in their lives

Replying to @arianek @LyneFiliatraul2
Ariane, Dr. Filiatrault is a retired emergency physician who, back in 2003, when confronted with a patient from East Asia with an unknown influenza like illness at a Vancouver hospital ER, her team and her chose the precautionary principle. They implemented airborne precautions, and the SARS outbreak was managed successfully in BC. Toronto made a huge mess by not using the precautionary principle, and as a result, had a much larger outbreak with over 400 cases in 2 locations, with a 10% mortality, and disability in the majority of survivors. Henry was one of the primary decision makers in the Toronto mess, along with other dishonest actors. To my knowledge, Dr. Filiatrault has never been a primary public health/infection control MD. Yet that ER TEAM, yes team, in 2003 chose the precautionary principle and airborne precautions and had the COURAGE to hold fast in the best interests of patient care and staff protection. @LyneFiliatraul2 @BarryHunt008 @crwequine

A society can't ever recover from leaving the vulnerable and elderly for dead and tossing all the kids under the SARS bus to get indoor dining back
That was the beginning of the end
I SWEAR something broke in society after 2020 — and almost nobody wants to admit it.
And I’m not talking about masks, lockdowns, or COVID.
I mean the FEELING of life.
Everything reopened. We went back to work. Restaurants filled up. Travel came back. Events returned.
But somehow… life never felt the same again.
Years fly by. People feel more disconnected. Everything feels more expensive, more stressful, more rushed.
And somehow we’re all TIRED all the time.
I can’t fully explain what changed.
I just know life before 2020 felt slower. Lighter. More ALIVE.
Please tell me I’m not the only one who feels this.

Thanks for the bulletin, Jacob. Cool entry into a Toronto issue since Tent City (look it up)
You may not be aware of this, but many of us fought during ten years of austerity budgets in Toronto for protection of unhoused ppl and increases to social services funding
which did not happen until this Mayor, and while still not adequate,
homelessness rates increased nearly everywhere else in Ontario in 2025,
but they dropped significantly in Toronto.
To potential supporters of @oliviachow:
Today is the first chilly day of the year in Toronto.
It is 7:45 AM and I’m on the TTC and there are three poor unhoused souls languishing on two separate cars on the trains.
They need help.
No one is helping them.
People, (mostly marathon runners) plug their noses and move away.
Whose job is it to help them? There are many, but chief among them is the CEO of the city.
That’s the mayor.
Olivia Chow hasn’t taken transit in three years. So it’s no wonder this goes on without end.
We need change.
Please vote for Brad Bradford @BradMBradford for mayor.

The French are a different breed when it comes to protesting.
Organisers have created a map showing mobilisation across France and the locations set to be blocked. They’ve called it “Operation Snail”.
More than 800 protests are planned, with protesters set to block or demonstrate outside 1,755 locations, including petrol stations, refineries, train stations and ports.

New from me: Almost 2 years after I filed an FOI, I finally got bureaucrats’ communications from Aug. to Nov. 2024 as Premier Ford prepared and launched his war on bike lanes
Internal records show provincial bureaucrats refuted Doug Ford’s arguments before he ordered Toronto bike lanes removed. thestar.com/news/gta/doug-fo…
Everyone in London should be furious Ford is wasting Ontario taxpayer dollars to rip out bike lanes in Toronto.

The on/off revolving door of mask guidance in health care seems bizarre to me
😷 should be a fixture of patient care, just as gloves & hand hygiene are: not a seasonal precaution, but a fundamental part of our commitment to infection prevention, patient safety, and doing no harm.
Masks encouraged at all Health P.E.I. facilities starting Oct. 16
Masks will be available at entrances to Health P.E.I. facilities

This right-wing backlash is why @BradMBradford, previously an avid cyclist (his wife was even on the @CycleToronto board!) has now hitched his wagon to the anti-bike brigade. Reject the culture-war bullshit. Cycling, pedestrian and public transit infrastructure keeps us all safer
Doug Ford’s war on bike lanes isn’t about traffic—it’s part of a global right-wing backlash to vilify urban residents and defend fossil fuel interests
