We as a fan base need to stop complaining about attendance of a Tuesday night game against bad west coast teams in October.
The rangers had a lot of empty seats last night too.
That first period is a great lesson on why coaching matters more than talent. That Ducks team has no idea what to do out there
How in the world is Ritchie’s injury worse than Maccelli’s? Wow
#Isles Injury Updates: Matias Maccelli will miss the next 2-4 weeks with a lower body injury. Cal Ritchie will miss the next 4-6 weeks with a lower body injury.

Maccelli can’t put any weight on his leg and is getting an MRI tomorrow but there’s optimism he’ll be in the lineup against the Ducks
This is a weird one. Really comes down to the definition and interpretation of “control.”
He clearly intentionally taps the puck in a desired direction. Hes clearly going to maintain possession and control. But hes not technically controlling the puck into the zone because it’s a one touch from a pass.
I’ll be honest, I would’ve had no clue what the league would want here if I made this call in real time. Linesman waived good in real time. I’d probably do the same.
I don’t know on this one. Think we’re overthinking this one a bit.
I think the part that’s hard is the rollercoaster of emotions isles fans are going through over the last year or so.
Darche nails a draft after a good trade and we get maybe the greatest hockey player of all time. Then we overachieve for 2/3rds of a season and Darche absolutely blunders the deadline milbury style. Then we see some of the summer deals that could’ve been had if we didn’t triple down on a bad roster last year. Tough pill to swallow.
We go through the summer with low expectations. Then get hit with a random “oh btw Barzal isn’t skating but hopefully will be back by the opener.” And we’re still being led astray on that. He probably doesn’t play in 2026.
Theres your criticism of Darche.
For Deboer it’s interesting because he’s doing things well that are hard for people to see. And I give him a lot of credit and have to remind myself to be patient as I allow him to work through some stuff. But on the other hand there’s been some obvious blunders that should simply never happen. The powerplay is a total train wreck. Schenn and Palmieri have no business there and every single person to ever watch hockey knows it except for the guys behind the Isles bench. The OT and shootout decisions last night are indefensible. You simply cannot defend it. Again, obvious to everyone except the guy behind the bench. Varly should’ve never started that Rangers game with that weeks schedule. We likely win both the Rangers and Lightning games if he played his goaltenders appropriately.
For the players: Ritchie and Holmstrom look fucking awful right now, and people had high hopes there. Duclair and Palat look great, and people had zero hope there. Pulock is a boat anchor. TDA always starts the year slow. Everyone else is somewhat as advertised. But when your “over achievers” are vets on the back end of their career while your supposed young core is struggling, that’s going to piss people off.

Have to be honest, I've always felt I can be pretty critical. I'm an analytical person by nature. But the doom around this team feels largely manufactured to me and it's pretty grinding.
It hasn't been a hot start but it's far from a disaster when you consider one of our most important pieces is working back from injury and we already lost a starting defender for the season.
The team is one of the best defensive teams in the NHL and that's with a bunch of kids playing key positions. I just don't get it. I see a terrific coach behind the bench getting immediate results with veteran players and young players and I feel super, super optimistic right now.
And then I check this space while watching the game and I just, I don't know. Was it the first time all of you experienced an uneven start? The first time you saw what rookies getting big minutes really looks like? The first time you've watched a slog of a game on the road?
Feels like everyone wants to up and punt the entire season already. Feels like some people want to punt our entire GM just a year into his tenure. I just don't get it, man. It feels like a giant paradigm shift and now the cool thing is to be fucking miserable.
How is the PP this bad, AGAIN?! How many coaches, GMs, players are we gonna go through? It’s insane man
PDB has taught our dmen to leave the low slot completely wide open and protect the high slot when they have the puck low on the goal line during the PP. I don’t really understand what’s going on there
