#ActuallyAutistic Is there any option/space/place to meet other Autistic adults face to face in UK, particularly Midlands??? I am getting the feel that online support and acknowledge is great for mind but don't do much in real life....
Just read this, one of the many motivational threads, and it hit me hard deep inside. This is where and when #ActuallyAutistic fail because they usually have quite good hard skills for whatever they do but no so much of so called those "soft skills"....

It's my personal experience too. Relatively early success as that depends on exams, etc but problems later on due to lack of those social skills. What do other #ActuallyAutistic think? Any similar experiences?

Planning to attend #AutismShow at Birmingham on 24-25 June 2022. Any #ActuallyAutistic experiences from previous years to share?
bjgp.org/content/67/659/e445 1% responders (GPs) reported being autistic themselves. This is in keeping with incidence in general population and it may well be the case across the specialities. #ActuallyAutistic

"Patient contact is usually task-focused or structured around a well-defined role. Rather, trouble arises in the unstructured, unpredictable, or in some other way confusing interactions with colleagues or organisational hierarchy." This line touched my heart.

It's explains why I love doing clinic on my own, love operating with clear plans in place but struggle with handover, trauma meetings and other similar colleague interactions.

[1/4] Tips for folks who want to be good allies during #AutismAcceptanceMonth: 1. Most autistic people prefer to be called "autistic" rather than "people with autism." 2. Listen to autistic people. 3. Avoid demeaning/inaccurate terms like "high functioning" and "low functioning."

However, I am increasing getting depressed as still can't seem to work out how to navigate in the world. I feel I have so much to offer but being pulled down constantly by one thing or another.

I did open up with only few people to begin with and so far I got one "hmmmmm" and one "I don't think you are autistic". This has sort of made me question myself again.....

#ActuallyAutistic Has it occurred to anyone or it's just me that the child who told off that "the Emperor has no clothes" must surely be Autistic..... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Em…

Where do I start? That was my first line with psychiatrist and may be apt first line on twitter.

Had my first consultation with psychiatrist, privately who felt that I do seem to have ASD and may be mild ADHD and suggested full assessment.

I thought I was the only odd one all this time but apparently not. Wish to meet and interact with people having/facing similar problems/difficulties.
