The Scottish Greens in Edinburgh want to defund the police. These people are crazy.

The unions' leadership have managed their own decline in the last 45 years so that barely a fifth of the workforce is now a union member, and almost none are in the private sector. But sure, align yourselves against women's rights to secure and private spaces – that'll reverse the decline you absolute muppets.

If there is no room for socially conservative views in a socialist left wing party then @zarahsultana should be first out the door, swiftly followed by all the other homophobes and misogynists who support the white male power movement known as transgenderism.

"You see only negativity where Scotland is concerned."
Critiquing the arguments of Scottish Nationalists is not negativity toward Scotland. Because you aren't Scotland. You are just a minority who refuses to accept the outcome of the biggest democratic exercise in our history.

Labour will lose the next election because misogynistic men, such as Chris, cannot see that half the electorate should be treated with as much respect as men.

💚🤍💜 it’s still hard to accept that the National Library pulled our book from a public exhibition because some of its staff said it was “harmful”. A book where women talk about surviving sexual abuse, the failures of politics and being hounded for their feminism. Surreal.
So many women @natlibscot today proving that we won’t wheesht till you put our book back where it belongs

Just telling my other half about the Scottish Libraries story. It wasn’t on his radar.
And as I was recounting it, I realised how ‘silly’ it felt in the grand scheme of news stories. And yet… not.
It may be ‘just a story about a book’. Yet it’s one of hundreds (probably thousands by now) of infuriating examples of attrition. Every day, a new story arrives about the erasure/removal/punishment of women in this exhausting gender debate.
And all of it matters. All of it.

Instead of London, she should consider actually attending her place of work.

So Scotland has become a land where a library will carry out an equality impact assessment before displaying a book written by women about the fight for women’s rights, but won’t carry out any assessment before allowing men into women’s changing rooms?
David Clater retweeted
If she has this degree of integrity she will apologise publicly and unreservedly, and reinstate WWWW in the display immediately

Did the National Library of Scotland (a lovely place where I finished writing up my Phd) think that they could withdraw book called "The Women Who Wouldn't Wheesht" - and then expect the women concerned to *keep quiet* about it?
It's not as if they didn't give you a clue.

So we have an arts venue who want to cancel the Deputy First Minister cos she’s so scary and the National Library banning a best selling book cos their staff don’t like it. And to top it off, a newspaper, denying it all. For shame.

The lying “journalist” and her ludicrous employers have been community-noted.
Has a gender-critical book been 'banned' from an exhibition by the National Library of Scotland? No.
We fact check the latest claims from gender-critical campaigners 👇
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This is factually incorrect. An email trail released by the National Library of Scotland in response to a Freedom of Information request shows the book was indeed selected for the Dear Library exhibition but was later removed following protests from the staff LGBT network.

the idiot national librarian banned a feminist book from an exhibition to avoid controversy and, instead, opened the organisation up to a level of scrutiny she may live to regret. ach well. she is an idiot.
It is disappointing to see public bodies continuing to fail to uphold their Public Sector Equality Duty regarding data collection on sex.

What surprises me most about the National Library's response to The Women Who Wouldn't Wheesht is not that the National Librarian Amina Shah decided to cave into pressure from her LGBT+ staff, but that she didn't seem to understand the import of her decision. It's the national library FFS, the guardian of our culture, of freedom of expression, of rational debate.
David Clater retweeted
So, the hypocrisy has just gone to 11.
Does it only count as censorship if it's books you like @natlibscot?
Amina Shah caved in to people saying that a book on a shelf WAS a threat. I hope she's ashamed of herself!
In April 2024, Amina Shah, the Chief Executive of @natlibscot, discussed the threats of *censorship* facing libraries around the world:
“Suddenly books on a shelf are a threat. That’s interesting”

Imho there is neither integrity nor proof of values in removing a book from an exhibition in response to pressure when the book 1. Breaks no laws, 2. Expresses beliefs protected at law, and 3. Recounts one of the most significant movements in recent Scottish politics.
