New York & living in the moment go together like meditation. I took meetings on the go, found pigeons who wanted to be on camera, saw basketball courts with real chain netting and spent an hour on the 6 train atleast. I closed a 6-figure deal with a client, I learned some sign language on the F train with an older gentleman and ended up connecting over our love of 35mm lenses. Turns out he was a master photolab technician for 40 years and has spent the last 20 as a street photographer. He uses a Fuji camera now, and has some liminal photos of the twin towers in September of 2000, as well as: civil rights marches, his first few photos of his workshop in the 60s, a project from after the Moon Landing in ‘69, and his family’s roots in Louisiana. His name is Joe and when I got up for my stop I shook his hand and thanked him for his time with me today, he let me take a passing photo of him for whenever I happen to see him next. Saved a person trying to fight the train’s closing doors and pulled that thing open like spiderman. Gave a kid a dollar for pizza and that pizza was immaculate. Good bar in SoHo for good business meetings and a 2 mile walk home through the Bronx as the sun set. Enjoy the present when your brain will let you, it’s important to keep the hope alive🫵🏼❤️
