Today we are an employee-owned, purpose-driven organisation, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Applying our science-based & human-focused approach, we have developed a wide range of services that help our clients deliver sustainable buildings & urban places.

Pioneered in the 1970s & 80s by Profs Bill Hillier, Julienne Hanson & @alanpenn at @BartlettArchUCL, the 'space syntax' approach was conceived to help simulate the likely effects of urban planning & architectural design proposals on the people who occupied & moved around in them.

Our history? Space Syntax was established on 17th July 1989 to apply the 'space syntax' approach in urban planning & design practice.
