This is why most SNP members are challenging the leadership actions. Ordinary members cannot initiate a challenge. Why? Branches cannot initiate a challenge. Why? Only MSPs/MPs can trigger one, and the threshold is now high enough that it is politically impossible unless the leadership faction fractures internally. Why? Sara Salyers is correct, it is SNP who are not working with the independence movement indeed the SNP are working for the Westminster government to remain part of the UK. The SNP is blocking the independence movement through three structural behaviours (1) Relying solely on Westminster permission, which Westminster repeatedly refuses, section 30 (2) Suppressing internal debate on strategy this is against all Independence and Scottish traditions including the Claim of Right (3) Failing to use the pro independence majority at Holyrood to escalate the constitutional case. These behaviours create a political and organisational bottleneck. This was engineered by today’s and yesterday’s leaders of the SNP to lock the independence movement out and remain as the administration for Westminster.
