For everyone saying Colleen’s mom should just “find peace,” there is an important part of this case people are missing.
Colleen was buried after her murder, but her entire body was not returned to her family. Authorities retained her skull as evidence in the case against Christa Pike. At trial, it was important physical evidence, including because a piece of Colleen’s skull that Pike had taken from the crime scene could be physically matched back to it.
May Martinez later fought to have her daughter’s skull returned so it could be cremated and placed with the rest of Colleen’s remains. A judge ruled that it could eventually be returned, but only after Pike’s appeals were exhausted.
So imagine being this mother. You buried your 19-year-old daughter more than 30 years ago, but you have spent decades unable to put ALL of your child to rest together because part of her remains are still tied to the legal case.
This is bigger than telling a grieving mother she needs to “forgive” or “find peace.” She has literally been waiting to bring all of her daughter home.

colleen slemmer would’ve turned 51 last month. her mother wants justice and when it comes to another human being taking the life of the daughter you brought into this world, her opinion should be the only opinion.

If you have any doubts about Christa Pike, go look at the crime scene photos of Colleen Slemmer. Yeah, it never should have taken this long, but I look at these last 31 years as Pike's torture to make up for the torture Colleen endured before she died.
