5 Things I’d Do Differently If I Started Selling on Amazon Again From Scratch: Lessons From My Own Mistakes and Experience
1. Id only buy items that were discounted below retail
2. Id keep a google sheet of every good lead sourced
3. I would outsource prep a lot sooner. Do your own prep to start with so you learn the ropes but then outsource
4. I would not get a VA for sourcing
5. I would outsource Admin ASAP
6. Id sell for breakeven or a loss on a bad buy to get money back out to improve cashflow
7. Id sell returns and death pile much quicker to keep cash flowing

No Buy Box low Key wins
Selling on listings that dont have buy box is a massively opportunity, especially at this time of year. Items still sell and if anything it’s a low key item because so many people avoid these types of listings.
As long as you check the data like normal, you’ll be fine. Make sure you check the keepa graph and the data tab to see current sellers and previous sellers. The data will confirm if it’s worth buying, Buy Box or not.

HAVE BALLS OF STEEL
Q4 is here - this is the ultimate patience test
Dont drop your prices unless you absolutely have to. If you 100% want to get out quickly on an item then drop your price.
However, if this isnt the case you have to be patient at this point. Another couple of weeks and month and the price/seller count will be totally different in a positive way.

How to increase ROI & PROFIT 📈
Step 1 - Have a solid sourcing and purchasing criteria in place
Step 2 - Only purchase above a set ROI %
Step 3 - Take into account a drop off in ROI due to an influx of sellers and supply. Also look at previous data to judge what the ROI will be (NOT BASED ON ITS CURRENT SALE PRICE)
Step 4 - Have set repricing criteria’s for items and the duration of time this has been in your inventory. Pricing impulsively will not help your ROI.
Some other ROI thoughts below:
The lower the ROI at the point of purchase, the lower the wiggle room in an item
If you have a set criteria of 20%, this will end up being between 10-15%. Raise this criteria to at least 30% and it’ll be around 20%.
If you are buying whilst the sale price is at an all time high and the ROI is still low, this isnt a good item to purchase. You are relying on the sale price remaining at the all time high.

Keepa Product Finder is a fantastic tool for discovering high-quality, overlooked items, but timing can be an issue. You might miss an item that appears just minutes before or after you check, which is inevitable with millions of listings.
With @SourceClub_, you can automate this process. Simply set your criteria, and you’ll be instantly notified when a new item appears in KPF. This saves you time AND increases your profits by ensuring you never miss an item again.

Amazon sellers are funny. They’re unlike most other businesses.
Imagine Plumbers being in a WhatsApp group. There are hundreds, if not thousands of them, all sharing their banks balances, cash, invoices and receipts etc. They put a nice colour circle around the profit or turnover and they send it to the group. The group compare how much they made fitting baths and cleaning out sh!t pipes. They realise one Plumber makes more on baths than them so they decide to go around their area and undercut by pennies.
It just wouldn’t happen 😂 So why do we feel the need to post orange bars and profit screenshots? Those figures can be easily be manipulated and as we’ve seen people can achieve them fraudulently.

Tip 23 - The sooner you realise there are two different types of items you can buy, the better.
Ill explain both below:
1 - An item that has an inflated sale price on Amazon due to external factors such as low supply. You’d typically purchase this item for the retail price and sell it for a higher price on Amazon. The risk on these items is high because if the supply goes back to normal, the sale price will drop significantly. You are more likely to see the offer count and price fluctuate a lot of these types of listings. A lot of sellers buy when the sale price is high but as soon as they do, it drops back down to the normal price point. (You might be able to get away with this when it comes to seasonal items.)
2 - An item that sells at around the retail value on Amazon consistently. You’d typical purchase items that fit this criteria when they are on sale. These items have a much lower level of risk compared to item one. If the sales rank is good and you have patience, you shouldn’t lose money on this type of item. Even if the sale price drops (due to an increase in sellers), it will recover again. The time it takes to recover is down to the sales per month and how long the sale on the item lasts.
Knowing the 2 different types helps massively with not only sourcing an item, but how you price an item and how long you wait for it to recover.
