There's something about the sound of a pressure washer at work. πŸ”Š Take a peek (and listen) to one of the many tasks happening behind the scenes at Sound Transit. #BehindYourRide Video description: Two workers use a pressure washer to clean the plaza outside Beacon Hill Station. It’s the Great ShakeOut! Emergency preparedness is a year-round priority at Sound Transit. Today, we’re joining people across the region in practicing what to do during an earthquake: Drop, Cover and Hold On. Take preparedness beyond the drill! The ShakeOut is also a great reminder to review your personal preparedness plans. Consider asking yourself: - Do I know the safest places to take cover in my workspace? - Am I familiar with my site's emergency procedures and assembly locations? - Is my emergency contact information current? - Do I have emergency supplies at home, work, or in my vehicle? - Has my family discussed how we would communicate after a major disaster? Through our partnership with the @YMCASeattle , young people are getting the chance to experience new places and new possibilities, together. Because sometimes, a ride is more than getting from here to there.Β πŸš†βœ¨ It’s a chance to experience something new. To discover joy. To have fun. To explore. To make a memory. When we connect people to places, we can also connect them to possibility. πŸ’œ

You might not notice every clean window, polished surface or freshly detailed train. But Erik does. As a Rail Service Worker lead, Erik oversees the daily and monthly detailing of our fleet, helping make sure trains are ready for the thousands of riders who step aboard each day. #BehindYourRide Video description: Erik cleans a Link train in an operations and maintenance facility while describing his job duties.

What is this thing? πŸ‘€ This is an automatic pedestrian gate! Many people are familiar with its predecessorβ€”the automatic quad gate which is a traffic control device used to warn people in vehicles that a train is approaching and prevent them from entering a train's right of way. When a train approaches, lights begin to flash, bells ring, and the automatic pedestrian gate arm descends across sidewalks or crosswalks where people walk, bike, or roll to warn people of an oncoming train. These automatic pedestrian gates are near BelRed Station, which opened in 2024. Sound Transit will install automatic pedestrian gates at Royal Brougham with construction starting as soon asβ€―lateβ€―2027.β€―β€― #BehindYourRide
