ALT The Board of Sound Escape Productions would like to apologize for yesterday’s tweets. Words have impacts and we recognize that our statement had unintended implications. Tal is an incredibly talented producer and has independently delivered quality work again and again. Tal, we are sorry. We are fans of your work and are eager for your continued success. Thank you for your contributions. Someone Dies in this Elevator, and the work you put in to bring the show to life, will leave a lasting impact on Sound Escape. We are better creators for having known you. In addition to Tal, we want to apologize to all those we unfollowed in the wake of those tweets. We failed to recognize your accomplishments and valued feedback. We are reevaluating our social media guidelines to ensure that situations like this never happen again.

ALT Sound Escape was always meant to be exactly that, an escape. In our efforts to build a collective that reflected the best of us, we lost ourselves in the bureaucracy of our own creation and forgot the most important part of podcasting. The people. Indie podcasters are the backbone of this industry and to ensure that we never lose sight of the community we are looking to serve, Sound Escape will be undergoing a structural overhaul. Tal rightfully shed light on the ways our creative structure actively hindered SDITE’s production and, instead of properly addressing Tal’s concerns, focus was placed on our strict guidelines. No creator should find themselves hampered by its producing partner and we learned this lesson far too late. We will have more to share in the near future. Until then, focus will be placed on uplifting and celebrating this community and reminding ourselves that a handbook should never be placed before a person.
