TIL: if you are on a Mac using its tiling window manager, make sure to disable window margins. This gives you a little more space, especially if you are on a MacBook screen.

Ok, Linux people. I want to replace Windows on my son’s Thinkpad. What distro should I choose? He wants a “system for real hackers”, so I was thinking about Arch. I want to teach him how one can really own his computer. I want him to start tinkering and exploring.

This is one of the reasons I don’t want to start with Ubuntu. I want him to break things in order to fix them later. I want to teach him about file systems, installing all the necessary apps by himself, and so on.
