Three pin layouts that still work in 2026:
1. Before and after, split down the middle
2. A numbered list sitting on a photo
3. Flat lay with one bold word
They survive being shrunk to thumbnail size, which is the only size that matters. Everything else is decoration.
Nobody talks about the boring feature that changed how I research: export the feed to CSV.
I pulled 54,000 pins out of one niche, opened them in a spreadsheet, and sorted by saves per day.
The answer to 'what should I make' stops being a feeling and becomes a sort.
Shopify sellers: the pins that drive sales are almost never product-on-white.
They're the product in a room, on a person, in a routine.
Search your category, scroll for a minute, then sort what you collected by Most Saves. Count how many of the top twenty are plain product shots.
The Pinterest search bar is a free keyword tool and almost nobody uses it that way.
Type your seed word and stop. The suggestions underneath are real searches, ordered by how often people type them.
Write down ten. That's ten pins, each with its own page to land on.
Seasonal rule of thumb on Pinterest: you post for the season that is 60 to 90 days out.
Right now that means Christmas and New Year, not Halloween.
Pins need weeks to collect saves before the search traffic shows up. Post in December and you are posting for next December.
Running the account for a tool nobody has heard of is humbling.
Last month: ten posts. Best one got 55 views.
Turns out posting is not distribution. So this month I'm replying to twenty people a day instead of talking into the void.
If you do anything with Pinterest, say hi. I'll be in your replies.

You sort it in the SortPin dashboard, not in the Pinterest feed itself.
Turn on Smart Collect, scroll the search for a few seconds, then open the popup: Pins > Sort > Most Saves.
Same menu does repins, comments, shares and newest/oldest, with Export CSV next to it.
Pinterest feeds are filling up with generated images, and they all share the same glossy look.
So the cheapest way to stand out in 2026 is a real photo. Real hands, real room, slightly messy.
When everything around it is perfect, human reads as new.
If you sell on Etsy, do this once a week:
1. Search your product on Pinterest
2. Sort the feed by Most Saves
3. Open the top five and see where they link
Half of them will be Etsy shops. That's your real competitor list, and it costs nothing.
Which of these would you actually pay for in a Pinterest tool?
A. History graphs for any pin or domain
B. "This pin is 5x its niche average"
C. Where the traffic actually lands
D. Bulk download plus CSV export
Reply with a letter. Whatever wins gets built next.
The POD mistake that quietly kills a Pinterest account:
ten pins, all pointing at the same shop link.
Pinterest reads that as affiliate spam. Ten pins at ten product pages reads as a real shop.
Same amount of work. Completely different outcome.
Google keeps answering the question itself, so fewer people click through to blogs.
Pinterest doesn't answer anything. It makes someone want the thing, then sends them to you.
That's why the bloggers still getting traffic in 2026 are the ones who never dropped their Pinterest habit.
How to judge a Pinterest pin in 10 seconds:
1. Saves divided by days since it was posted
2. Real comments, not emoji
3. Does it link out, or dead-end on Pinterest
4. Posted by one person or by a brand
Three out of four? Study the format and make your own version.
Q4 search on Pinterest is already moving.
People plan gifts two to three months out, so the pins winning in December are being saved right now.
Search your niche plus "gift" today. Whatever is picking up saves this week is what you make next.
Fastest Pinterest check you can run tonight:
Search the keyword you want to own, look at the top 10 pins, and write down how old each one is.
All over a year old? The niche is asleep. You can walk in.
All under 60 days? It's hot, and you'll need a better image than theirs.
Etsy & POD sellers: search your niche on Pinterest before you design anything.
High saves + no link = a pretty picture.
High saves + a shop link = something people buy.
Design for the second group.
Your Pinterest feed is filling up with AI images.
SortPin fades them out — AI pins and promoted pins go grey, so what stands out is what real people actually saved.
One scroll on "travel outfit": 285 of 2,405 pins dimmed.
Do you want AI pins hidden or just labeled?
Fastest competitor check on Pinterest:
1. Search your main keyword
2. Sort the feed by Most Saves
3. Write down which websites keep showing up in the top 20
That's where the traffic goes. SortPin does step 2 for you.
