Returning to the “normal” that created Trump will create another Trump. Dems again refusing to deliver for the working class will deliver a worse Trump. The liberalism of restoration rather than the left-leaning populism of transformation will end up restoring MAGA. Some of us have said this — and have been vilified for saying it — for the last 30 years. It is as true now as it always has been.

Last year, 74 House Democrats voted yes to the Lakin-Riley Act that allowed ICE to racially profile. I DO WANT an opposition party. From the Patriot Act to doubling funding for ICE to austerity policies to blocking any kind of left policies, Dems stand with the GOP. I understand feeling that it's some kind of harm reduction to support the Dems. But DO NOT guilt us about this fact.
